While country music "progresses", there will always be people at the top at radio stations who aren't too supportive of women in country, preferring to glamourise them somewhat by pointing them towards the pop industry. There don't seem to be many women nowadays singing traditional country, or is it just my imagination? If I'm wrong about my opinion of sexism, please prove it! Martina will not bow to these people and I commend her for that, although it does mean that her career will never be as successful as it COULD be if she followed what these people want. She will be beaten by Faith at awards ceremonies, she won't have many top 10 hits and she won't appear on the covers of magazines flashing her bare flesh to the world. Good for her. I could say the same about racism, for apart from Trini Triggs, how many black country artists are there? Have you ever wondered why that could be? OK, it's not traditional black music, but that's no reason to suppose that there's no black country singers around in mainstream country. Now look at the proportion of the population in the US that are black? But that's another argument!
