'Girls' Night Out' Kicks Off July 13
NASHVILLE, Tenn., April 6 /PRNewswire/ -- This summer's only all female country music tour has been confirmed. "Girls' Night Out" starring Reba McEntire and Martina McBride, along with Sara Evans, Jamie O'Neal and Carolyn Dawn Johnson, will play 24 cities from July 13th through August 19th, 2001. Reba McEntire, joins the tour fresh from a five month stint on Broadway, where she has received unprecedented unanimous acclaim for her starring role in "Annie Get Your Gun." McEntire, multi-lauded singer, actress, author and twice-named Entertainer of the Year, is well known for her elaborate concert stage productions. "I am so excited to get back on the road," McEntire said. "And I am especially thrilled to share the stage with these super talented girls!"
Renowned vocalist, Martina McBride, is a multi-platinum selling artist whose accolades include recognition as the Country Music Association's Female Vocalist of the Year, and countless nominations for vocal and video performances. McBride's former collaborative efforts with Reba include the 1996 Grammy nominated recording of "On My Own." "It's an honor to be a part of this line-up," McBride said. Sara Evans is currently riding high on the success of "Born to Fly," her RIAA gold-certified third album for RCA Records, which debuted at #8 on the Billboard charts. A critic's favorite since her 1997 debut, Evans' first foray into producing has resulted in her fastest selling CD to date. Jamie O'Neal's "There is No Arizona" was the first #1 debut single by a female artist since 1996. Currently heard singing "All By Myself" in the comedy release "Bridget Jones's Diary," "Girls' Night Out" is O'Neal's first country music tour. Newcomer and former Martina McBride backup singer, Carolyn Dawn Johnson, opens the show with a rare acoustic set. Johnson's debut Arista Nashville album, "Room With A View," is due out by summer's end. Dates, venues, and cities will be posted on the Reba website, www.reba.com.
