Fellow Martina Fans,
I had a wonderful time at the Friday, Suttons Bay, MI, Martina concert. My Son, Scott, and Daughter-In-Law, Dayna, met me at Traverse City. Neither of them had ever been to a Martina concert.
On the 20 mile trip from Traverse City to the casino, I drove. Poodle Thomas helped feed Martina tapes into the Boom Box and barked Martina concert experiences to Scott and Dayna.
When we arrived at the casino I moved aside a "reserved parking" sign. Then I parked in the space that I had earlier rented from an industrious valet. The next preparation was to place the "Casino Authority" decal on the car. Then I hooked an H.P. sound amplifier to the showroom wall. Twisted pair wire got unreeled to the car speaker. Poodle Thomas would again hear Martina sing. We all gave Thomas a goodbye hug.
Inside the casino we got to meet fellow Martina fan club members David, Steve and Jeanne, Keith, and Rudy. We later all screamed and applauded and jumped to our feet for Martina!
Martina opened with "IT'S MY TIME".
It was such a thrill to see Martina walk onto stage. It had been almost a year since I had seen her in concert. There were a lot of song request from the audience. Martina did her best to respond. Have you heard, "Cheap Whiskey," lately?
Martina was very talkative with the audience. She was also very patient with an interrupting type fellow seated far back in the audience.
At the start of, "Independence Day," Martina performed an extended note. Martina sang and sang and waited for we fans to applaud before finishing her note. And we fans listened and listened and waited for Martina to finish her note before applauding. Martina finally broke into laughter.
Martina received bouquets from persons in the fan club. She also received three or more standing ovations. We screamed Martina's name that she might come back onto the stage for an encore. Martina granted our request.
It was difficult for me to leave without seeing the next day's concert. But schoolwork had to take priority. Maybe someone will tell us about that concert.
The next morning while I ate a restaurant breakfast, "Happy Girl," played on a Traverse City radio station.
Thanks to Martina for giving my Daughter-In-Law a personalized picture. Dayna treasures it.
Poodle Thomas adds, "Wonderful singing, Martina!"
