Concrete Angel

While I'm not generally a country music fan, I do listen to a close friend of mine regarding music. He suggested I should listen to 'Concrete Angel.' I found that song so sad, but the way it was portrayed was so beautiful. Would anyone happen to know what was the origin of the song? Why it was written? etc...
