Hit Me With Your Best Shot has always been the first song associated with Pat Benatar. She is always expected to sing it and she really would rather be associated with other songs. She started out doing rock and roll and then when into more blues songs and would really rather play those instead of a song she is tired of singing.

Then she shouldn't have wasted her time and her fans' singing it in the first place.

Cordially,

Tom

First off, why would you sing a song that you don't like? I'm just wondering cause if I was a singer, I would pick songs that I like to sing. IMO. Second off, I don't like that song either.

Exactly, and then for an artist to say the song is bad but the fans want to hear it so she'll sing it!
Isn't that kind of a roundabout insult of the fans?
Can't imagine Martina doing that.

Billy Joel got to the point where just about refused to play "piano man". I also read somewhere that Garth Brooks got tired of Thunder Rolls (from a source that was probabily unreliable). I wonder if Martina ever gets tired of any songs...

Yeah, I can't imagine her doing that either. I think it's just stupid to say that and then turn around and sing the song. Just idiotic IMO.

She probably does...and it's understandable if she sings them all the time.

When I met Bonnie Raitt she said she didn't sing Runaway anymore because she had just done it too many times. She said she was just tired of performing it. Maybe it's the same thing for Pat Benetar. Most people know her for that song.

I think that's just Cher's sense of humor. She did say it wasn't her favorite song, but she sang it during the first part of her tour because it was a hit. She said it probably isn't a favorite because it has so many words, which I just sum up to Cher's humor.

I think Pat loved that song at first but it was one she HAD to sing at every concert and every performance and she just got tired of it. I know of one song that Martina has said before that she doesn't really care for but she sang it anyway (early days) and that would be Life #9.

As long as she doesnt get tired of Where Would You Be we all should be fine (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

I often think that every artist knows there is ONE career song that is just so big that they are sure of having to sing it for the enxt 30-40 years, and hope and pray they don't get sick of it.
Let's see, in no particular order, my guesses,
and fortunately, most of these are such GREAT, timeless songs that it is hard to tire of them:

Martina: Independence Day
Trisha: She's in Love with the Boy
Lee Ann: I Hope You Dance
LeAnn: One Way Ticket
Strait: All My Ex'es or Amarillo by Morning (maybe too many choices for this guy)
Faith: This Kiss
Jones: He Stopped Loving Her Today (See, that's already happening!)
Loretta: Coal Miner's Daughter
Toby: How Do You Like Me Now
Reba: Fancy
Patty: I Try to Think ABout Elvis
JMM: Sold
Chicks: Wide Open Spaces

I could go on, but it's your turn.

Cordially,

Tom

LeAnn: One Way Ticket

I think LeAnn's trademark song should be Blue or How Do I Live.
