Say someone to go out and buy the album The Way I Am or The Time Has Come or Evolution etc. would those go towards the count of albums sold for that CD. like could The Time Has Come become a platinum CD today if enough people went out and bought it, how does that work, do they stop taking count after so many years? Just wondering thanks

I believe as long as the album is still in print, it counts.

Im pretty sure it would count toward it. They are still keeping track of how many beatles and rolling stones albums are sold I believe.

Individual piece sales are not counted toward any grand total. Sales are tabulated by stock orders from retailers.

I'm pretty sure all sales of "new" CD's no matter when it was released are counted when purchased from a good or established store weather it is a store or dot com.
