Does anyone know the history of this? Where and when it began? I'm guessing it was spontaneous and not something M. at some point thought, "Hey, that would be cool!" She was so cute at the Mountain Stage concert. The stage was ultra crowded with various bits of equipment, camera and sound men, etc. When the moment came she picked up the mic stand, thought about it then thought better of it. She kind of did a 360, then gently put it back down. Had she flung it, she would have taken out a few people and some very expensive equipment. lol

Awwwww. I've been to so many shows that I definitely know it's coming! It's so cute coming from such a little person. smile.gif

Timeless is the BEST of all the shows I've ever seen Martina do! Paying tribute to those artists literally brought tears to my eyes!! Thank-you Martina for keeping the roots of country music alive!! It just cannot get any better!

I don't remember her doing it at the Atl. show. Maybe I was too far away to see(notice). Anyone remember?

Sometimes when she's singing ID not during a regular concert (like for example on a TV show or in some sort of a studio) you can see her fighting the urge to throw the mike and her trying to remember that she can't do that! LOL

The 2006 Fab Four Tour was an absolute blast!!! Thank you Martina, John, the Fab Three (:D) and everyone else involved in making it such a memorable experience!!! Can't wait to do it again!! :)

She threw it in Fort Wayne, Chicago, and LaCrosse. You can tell the emotions have definitely kicked in at that point.

Keith

Yeah, it cracks me up how sometimes she forgets the stage is so small and tosses the mike full force... LOL

I seem to recall it being a new thing in 2001, though it's possible it came before that. She definitely did it on the GNO Tour.

I really need to check my posts before replying, sometimes I'm think faster than I can type so I leave some words out!!! laugh.gif

It should of said, "She's been doing it for quite some time now, I'm thinking it was around 2001 maybe even 2000, I know she almost hit Greg a few times on these small stages"

I'm trying to remember the first time I saw her do it and to the best of my memory it was sometime during the Emotion tour, so I'm thinking 2000.

Well,

It all depends if you are talking about when she started "throwing" the mic stand, or when she started "hitting" it.

Cause you see, she used to hit it(at the exact same place during Independance day). I can t be sure when she started it, but i know she did during my first Martina concert on August,2001 in Syracuse,NY. And she was doing before that, cause at the time, i posted about it on the BB(stating how much i loved that!!!), and some posters(like Tom from NJ, as i remember, mentionned she did it at every show they attended, and that it was part of the show, and not a spontaneous thing like i first thought----still a great crowd pleaser nevertheless...

She later changed the "hitting", for a "throwing"(possibly because of what Keith said, about almost hitting other people). I think it happened around 2002.

Claude, what exactly do you mean by "hitting?" Do you mean hitting it and it staying in one place, or hitting it and knocking it over...or sending it flying by hitting it? It seems maybe this is a question only Martina or John could answer. Wouldn't that be great? LOL
