I am surprised that she was not amoung the others on that list. There were few (while I do like them all) didn't deserve to be in that catagory. We all know Timeless is the BEST album and that Martina is our Female Vocalist and that is all that matters. --------------------

Once again Martina's amazing work has gone unrecognized by the CMA's. I'm really sad that Timeless is not nominated. Really sad. I know Martina said she didn't care if it sold 5 copies or not and I'm sure she would be gracious and be thankful she's still nominated in the female vocalist category. I am glad she's nominated in that category and if she wins she will be the most awarded female vocalist in Country Music history, passing Reba for the number of wins. So that really is a big deal. However, Timeless is a materpiece and even though she's been nominated in the album of the year category before, she has never won. I'm just really disappointed that this album is not being recognized by the CMA's. It's a shame. Val-entine --------------------

I can't believe she wasn't nominated for entertainer and album of the year!!! That is such a slap in the face!! Timeless is amazing and the tour totally kicked a$$!!! It's beyond me how they could overlook all that...

I agree! I'm extremely disappointed. Knowing Martina, she will undoubtedly carry on with class and dignity. However, that's not the point. Her extreme talent and effort should definitely be recognized with, at least, a nomination. --------------------

Timeless is the BEST of all the shows I've ever seen Martina do! Paying tribute to those artists literally brought tears to my eyes!! Thank-you Martina for keeping the roots of country music alive!! It just cannot get any better!

At least she's nominated for something. I really think LeAnn Rimes should've been nominated for Female Vocalist..she did have a #1 after all..

Found this on about.com: (http://countrymusic.about.com/od/awards/a/blcmaprocess.htm) Who are the CMA Members? The CMA membership consists of over 6,000 music industry professionals from 43 countries around the world. CMA membership is available to anyone working in the Country Music industry. There are many categories of membership for anyone from behind-the-scenes engineers to front-of-the-camera artists. The CMA Award winners are voted on by industry professionals of the Country Music Association. Thus, the winners are chosen by their peers. The CMA staff doesn't participate in the voting process. Eligibility period: Using 2004 as an example, the eligibility period runs from July 1, 2003 through June 30, 2004. Singles, albums, music videos, and qualifying products for the vocal event must have been first released during the eligibility period. The election is conducted in three rounds. Round 1: In the first ballot, the CMA members may nominate one act in each category. Any eligible act receiving a minimum of 10 or more eligible votes will become an official nominee, and will then be submitted to the entire CMA membership for the voting on in the second ballot. Round 2: On the second ballot, the CMA members must vote for five nominees in each category. These results are then tabulated and the five nominees in each category receiving the most votes will become the CMA finalists, and move on to the third ballot. Round 3: On the third ballot, the entire CMA membership then votes for one nominee in each category to determine the winners. The entire balloting process is conducted and certified by the international accounting firm Deloitte & Touche LLP. The final results are broadcast on the CMA Awards show telecast in November each year. For 2004, the Awards show will be broadcast on CBS on November 9, 2004, at 8:00 pm ET. ----- Let's remember that music isn't a competition, and no matter whether you agree or disagree with ANY of the nominations there really is no right or wrong answers when people are asked what they think is the best in any category. Martina makes music for her fans and because she loves to do it, she isn't in it to win awards. While accolades and awards are nice I know that Martina appreciates her fans a lot more than anything she can put on the mantle. -Darren --------------------

Hi All,
I may be wrong about this, but I think I remember back when Allison Krauss came out with her album, "Now That I've Found You, A Collection", she was originally nominated for album of the year but then the CMA committee said that the rules don't allow albums to be considered if they have less than four original songs on it. So they then nominated Patty Loveless' "When Fallen Angels Fly", which ended up winning the award. Thus I think that is why Martina's Timeless was not considered this year. On the bright side, I don't believe the Grammys or the ACMs have that silly rule. Brendan |
