I have tickets to Swampstock tomorrow...has anyone ever been and how hard do you think it will be to get to meet Martina. Am I kidding myself about meeting her?
I am so excited I haven't slept in days! |

I went in 2003. This was my experience. I had the worst time. I don't know about meeting Martina because there's too many people. I was so close to Faith (behind the dugout) and there were too many people, she kind of ignored everyone (from how I saw it). Tim was sick as a dog, but he still played. I was on Faith's side. It may be done differently, but I didn't have fun. This is only my experience, and opinion, please don't bash me for it. --------------------

I myself will never go back again, I went in 2001 and it was so crowded, I can't even imagine how it will be now. First off you have people lining up the day before for the ball game and concert, there are 2 different lines, so if you want to see both events you will be very far away for one of them. I'm not sure how the ball field is set up now but back then there weren't to many seats in the stands, so if you didn't get in early don't expect to see much of the game. Your best bet to even say hi to Martina is to sit out by the right field fence, she usually plays there.
The concert is even worse, I even had friends standing in the concert line and they were about half the way back but when the bigger artist come on every one keeps moving closer and tighter and before you know it your all on top of each other. Keith |

Yea - I had really no desire to go to this. It seemed like too much work. I have been blessed to have been able to see her some this year and I still have several dates more to go before the year is up so I don't feel I am missing much. I am sure Martina will be great and I hope you get your opportunity to meet her.

It's better to be hated for who you are
Than loved for someone you're not. God never promised that you would not experience hardtimes and trials. He did promise that He would be there with you when they do happen. Have Faith! |

I, too, attended in 2001...I chose to wait in the concert line. We were about the 10th people in line early Saturday morning but by the time the concert was to start about 3pm..so many people had budged with friends that were in front of us that we were probably pushed back to 200 or so. We ended up about 1/4 of the way back from the stage. All in all I say it's not worth it of you're going with the intent of trying to meet the artists. It's not real likely that you will. I can't say I won't ever attend it again...but I know next time not to worry about trying to get close to the stage or worry about meeting the artists.
And I know already for this year...the first person in line got there at 4pm Wednesday and Tim has had a few breakfasts and lunches delivered to them. By the time you get there Saturday the lines will already be outrageous. Pearl This post has been edited by Pearl on Oct 6 2006, 06:42 PM |

Not to bash Faith, because I love her, but she wasnt very nice to the crowd, she ignored everyone..........but that was because Maggie was crying...but still--she should pay attention to fans, I think. People were screaming her name, and she didn't even turn around once. She had nannies there, "McMom", and her own father, and she didn't even hand the kids off to them. None of the celebrities really payed attention. Rick Shroeder was there too...I'll never go back. The security was terrible. I, for one, wish they'd stop swampstock, because its way too big. What kind of place is it held? I mean is the game and show in a nice big stadium or is it in a smaller local field? If they would hold it in a large place I would think they could take care of a lot of these issues.

I live close to Tim's hometown. The first tiem I went was in 2001, it was horrible performances, people were cold, people were all over each other.. I wasn't sure waht to expect, but you have to walk so far to get to the gate unless you go way early..And that year Faith didn't even perform because she was pregnant. But I decided to give it one more shot in 2004, and it was alot better, except that time it was hot as ever outside. But the performances were so much better, especially Martina's. I enjoyed it alot better and I knew what to expect after that first time. I will never get to the front though because people run over each other up there. I prefer to sit farther back, because you can actually see them better not having so many people close together and hitting you, etc.. In 2004 they had these big cameras on the side of the stage that you could see the performers up close, and probably better than the people up front. I'm going again tomorrow, going to try it out again, the weather's suppose to be nice so all should go well. Hoping its alot more like 2004 than my 2001 visit.
People can be rude out there though if you aren't careful, they get to carrying on and people can get into arguements especially during the night. Someone said above about Faith being rude, I have to agree they aren't that friendly all the time. There's been a few visits that our newspaper would talk about the concert the day after and say that Tim and faith even refused interviews with diffrent people. Can't say why though, no one really knew. Bottom line is I go to see Martina, she steals the show iwth her amazing voice. I have a mind to leave after her performance tomorrow night, actually. We will see. To all who are going, good luck and hope you enjoy! |

The softball game and concert is held at Tim's sport complex.. All ofit takes place outside in this large field. Seems like it's Miles and Miles of walking from the car to where they do the concert though.

She has said more than once that her family is her priority, and I think it was right of her to be more concerned with her own flesh and blood crying then all the other people there yelling her name. I think it is very disrespectful to say that she should have disregarded her duties as a mother just to appease a handful of people. If your kids were crying would you hand them off to someone else? I really don't think you would. --------------------

I don't care how crowded it gets. I go to see Martina, Faith and Tim. I know everyone doesn't have a good day every day, so give them a break. They did what they were suppose to do on stage and that was to give us the best show that they could, and they proved that last night. They were great. All three of them rocked the field. I can't say house, because we weren't in a house, but they were all great. I just love the affection that Faith and Tim have for each other, and family. I am like the person posting before me. Family should come first before us. We love them and want them to recognize us, but when it comes to children, they are the first priority. You have to think, Martina would have done the same thing had it been any of her children. Any mother would have done the same. When you get in the situation where fans call you all the time, you can't turn everytime your name is called. You have other things that you are there to do. The concerts are their main focus, and they did a great job. I will go back year after year. Now, if I wanted to fuss, I could do that. I am in Faith and Tim's fan club, too. Fan club members were given an arm band and were suppose to be admitted first in one gate. Well, when they started letting us in, both gates were letting in, so everyone had to make a mad dash for their places. Me with my knee problems, could not run, but I did try to walk fast. It was nice that my friend had put out her blanket to save me a space for me to put my chair when I could get there, so that we could be together. I just hope next year, that if they say fan club can get in first, that they let us in about 30 minutes earlier. I still had a great view. I was just thinking about going over to the ballgame when they opened the gates. I am glad that I waited. You can't always do both. I missed out on getting autographs from any of them by not going to the ballgame, because some people were lucky enough to get Tim's autograph. I have never met either of the three, but one day, maybe my luck will change if I am able to keep going to the concerts and events. As long as I can walk, I will be there.

I have to tell ya'll I was prepared for the worst, but I had a great time yesterday. I would have loved it if Martina had done a meet and greet, but I'm sure they have their reasons. She was awfully cute in pigtails out there in left field with John. I didn't really get close to her, but I got to see the game and then walked over to the concert. All and all we were not pushed or pulled, we sat in a pretty good spot, far left about middle of the way. I got some good pictures, well they are good to me because it was the first time I had seen Martina. I will go back next time...I will have a plan to get closer to Martina. I was going to join her fan club, but she isn't playing anywhere near me any time soon.

We met Martina and Faith this year at Swampstock and they were both great to all the fans they could get to. It was a blast. Well actually Martine just stood up on the dugout bench and wouldn't come over but signed the autographs from the top. Faith came over a few times and signed. I got a picture with her.
For the person talking about the year Maggie was crying, hello her child was having a fit. She did the right thing and her "fans" who constantly were screaming for her as she was attending to her child were pretty rude and ignorant. I was right behind her in the first row and she constantly turned around and said she'd be over after. SHe was getting pretty mad that they weren't listening. Maybe not mad but aggravated. Anyway not sure how you didn't see her come over a few times and sign autographs and take pictures when her kids didnt need her. |
