Kix Brooks claims he was misquoted when he was stating some facts about the fest. Kix is on a number of CMA type of events and has a good idea of what he is talking about. If he feels this way I assume others do as well and that is not good for the future of the fest.

He made the comment that Artists can ask for up to $650,000/show and these artists play for free yet they have to pay the band members. A good band can make about $30,000 and that would come out of the artists pocket. He mentioned that if would be possible to move the event to another city like Houston, Altanta, perhaps the west coast for a number of reasons. Kix went back today and had to make another statement clarifying his position.

I understand what he is saying. I also find it interesting that a few A-list Acts have not been seen at the CMA fest for many years and are always "on tour" or doing any one of 10,000 other things and never play the fest once they got big. To be honest I do not feel sorry for these acts for not getting paid. Look at how much money they make during a course of 1 tour. Kix even said in one of the two interviews that fans feel like since they pay good money for the albums, and pay for concert tickets that they in turn should be able to get something in return..

Even Martina makes out like a bandit - but in Martinas case along with others - she gives back and goes out and plays the CMA fest yearly. Kenny Chesney, Brad Pasily, and even Keith Urban will play the fest yearly. Alan Jackson will play the fest but he took a few years off, Sugarland, even Reba will show up. Toby has is reasons not to play it, I can not remember the last time either Tim or Faith played the fest- I know they have played it. Tim is normally on tour at that time and given how he seems to be "persona non-grata" and gets snubbed I do not see him ever playing this event again..

Just a question how you figure anyone Makes out like a bandidit- yest they get paid 6 figure , but they pay band, crew, catering, bus drivers, diesel, bus payments, hotels, mangers, promoters, etc out of their pay for the evening and they pay their own taxes and scial security too

Yes they make a nice living but do remember all the expenses of touring as well

That is a good point. Like I mentioned a number of acts that come back on a regular basis to the fest and play for free giving up time with family/touring and money.

I jsut thought it was interesting that Kix was this vocal and candid in an interview..
