Hey! Well, I guess I'm supposed to write why I'm on this site. Well, I love Martina, love all her music, I think she's amazing! Also, I like getting feedback on the songs I write cause I'm too scared to show them to anyone else lol.

I love this one......wrote it about why I write songs in general....I originally wrote it in first person, but liked it much better in second person.....so enjoy

This Is For Us
See how the light filters
through the glass?
When a raindrop falls
Look at the thousand more that
Surround it

We have to see what others miss
And do something about it
It’s not like other things
It flows from the heart
It keeps us together
It tears us apart

(Chorus)
This is for us
Something that makes us happy
Something that’s just ours
Approval doesn’t matter
It’s what it does for us inside
It’s freedom, independence
So this is for us

Wouldn’t be able to pick us out
In so big a crowd
But we are different
We see the colors of emotions
The taste of happiness and fear
Our undefined role
We know without question
We pour our hearts, our souls,
All out on our papers

(Chorus)
So whether you hate it
Or love it
At least you know why
We need this outreach, this passion
To just live our lives

(Chorus)

OK I just love this show! It sometimes helps me write songs if I base them on characters, such is the case with this song.
I think I may tweak this a bit more, cause I kave no idea how to write the second verse, so any suggestions? It should coincide with the title.

Angel
She shot out of home
As fast as she could fly
And the life she left behind
Is one most would wanna forget

But so much of it
Is the life she loves now
There are so many depending on her
Sometimes it’s too much, but she wouldn’t trade a minute

(Chorus)

Life brings her down low
Grabs her on the run
As she pushes to survive
But with all her heart looking, she finds hope
And holds on for dear life
And as the sun shines through
Breaking through the darkness
She reaches up to touch the sky
She’s an angel
Just learning how to fly

(Second Verse)

(Bridge)
And one day she knows
She’ll leave here
Knowing she’s done her part
She’ll fly away………

(Chorus)

This song is kinda special to me, some family friends are going through a tough time now, so I tried to capture how they might feel. I have no experiece with this, so it may be completely off base, but I tried.

Pieces
My job is to get up from where
We all lie on the ground
When I drag you up with me
Will we be happy once more?
Yeah, every night now,
What you think I can’t hear
Are hurtful, shouting words
And I cover my ears

(Chorus)
Cause the pieces of our family
Are lying on the floor
And I’m desperate for a fragment
Of how we were before
Even if it’s just a whisper
Let it ring out loud
Cause right now it’s all crumbling
As I watch the pieces falling down

Now daddy lives across town
And mama lives at home
And I get angry at school
When friends try to come close
I so want to let them in
But I just don’t know how
‘Cause I saw what happened to mama and daddy
And I just couldn’t take it again

(Chorus)

(Bridge)
I want my family back
Then I felt so safe
But I don’t see why people love
When love causes so much pain

(Chorus)

My job is to get up from where
We all lie on the ground
And when I drag you up with me
Will we be happy once more?

Wow, I'm not even sure what this one means! I love the mystical feel of it though, this is becoming one of my favorite songs! Tell me what you think it means!

Call Me Home

This is me
Lying at your feet
The rage echoes
In the thunder
I want to stay
But the sky grows dark
It’s calling me home

The lightning flashes
And the wind howls its
Mournful hum
So now it’s time
Time to go home

(Chorus)
Oh, it’s time
To be held by the wind
Hugged by the sea
Let the sand pass
Like a million crystals
Through my feet
The thunder rumbles
Shattering senses
It calls me home

Among the million pearls
Scattered across the earth
They’re all there
Writing destinies
Listen
Listen to the mourning,
Redemptive sound
Call me home

(Chorus 2x)

Wow, this one turned out completly different than the draft! This one reminds me kinda of concrete angel again, shifting once again into depressing, because as most know, it is easier to write sad songs then happy songs. This one was on hold for awhile and I finally finished it. Sorry for the flood of posting songs from me, just love getting feedback!

Alone
She’s good for nothing
Or so she’s been told
She laughs, she plays
She’s one, she’s her own
Look at her closely, there’s
More to her than you see
‘Cause every bruise on her body
Tells a story all it’s own

(Chorus)
Yeah, this one’s from
That fight about the car
And that one’s earned
From when daddy home
From spending this month’s rent
So small but so strong, she
Knows this side of the world already
‘Cause at the end of the day
All she is is alone

Her neighbours watch her skip home
Wondering how a child who looks
So hopeful, go into a place seeming so dark
But she knows to hold onto her dreams
Of a better life
And what would you do, when
(Chorus)

And she dreams
She dreams as her soul is set free
She has lived, loved
Her quiet strength a lesson too us all
And now, as the sun sets over the hills
She’s not alone anymore

(Chorus)
Because where she is
There are no fights about the car
And daddy doesn’t go out to no run down bar
So small but so strong, she knew that
Side of the world already
And as the day ends
She’s not alone anymore
Oh, not anymore
Oh………
