Martina's "Do you hear what I hear?' is on "'So Fresh Songs For Christmas 2007'"..... Very interesting since Martina is not that big in Australia.

Just out of interest, which book did you like best? And why?

I would have to say I love the Goblet of fire one. I love the whole competition, and all the challenges Harry had to face.

Blackbird Studio produces top 3 albums in nation

By BEVERLY KEEL

The top 3 albums on this week's Billboard Top 200 albums chart all have something in common: They were recorded at Blackbird Studio in Nashville.

Bon Jovi, The White Stripes and Brad Paisley all chose the Berry Hill studio owned by Martina and John McBride to record their albums that were released last week.

Big & Rich, Keith Urban, Kenny Chesney, Trace Adkins and Rascal Flatts have also recorded there, but it's not just for country anymore. "We've been so busy and we're getting a lot of crazy rock stuff," says John, citing The Raconteurs, Kid Rock and Altar Bridge. "It looks like Staind is coming here."

John says Tom Walley, chairman of Warner Bros. Records, compared Blackbird to A&M Studios in the 1970s, when it had several big albums being made in the same complex. "It has a really great vibe, thanks to Martina," John says. "People feel good here and they enjoy working here. We give them the ultimate service and equipment selection and microphone selection.

"We look at it like the artists, engineers and producers are painters, and I want to be able to give them every color on the palette. I don't want them to ever be limited by what we do."

Blackbird has become quite the scene. While the Kings of Leon were playing wall ball in the parking lot one day, Anne Murray worked in one room and Megadeath had something mixed in another. Another day, Blackbird had Mariah Carey, Jewel, Big & Rich, R. Kelly and Kid Rock working on different projects. "I thought, 'OK, this is almost surreal,' " John says.

"It's almost humorous when you look at the lineup here. There's no other way these people would be in the same rooms at the same time."

Do you believe that God (Or the Universe) give us signs on certain things in life? Like a way of guiding us the right way?
Please explain your answer... (IMG:http://martina-mcbride.com/martinaville/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) I'm just curious (IMG:http://martina-mcbride.com/martinaville/style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

Six degrees away from Martina may lead to demo

Beverly Keel is off this week. You can start reading her work again on Wednesday, May 30.

From country music writer Peter Cooper: It pays to know Ali Benner.

Or at least Ali Brenner's hairdresser.

Because, it seems, Ali Benner is Martina McBride's housekeeper. And Martina McBride is a big ol' country star, and ABC is doing two (count 'em, two) one-hour specials on Martina, and one of those specials has to do with "Six Degrees of Martina McBride."

ABC is into this "Six Degrees" thing. In December, they took random people from different social backgrounds and told them to connect with each other without the help of phone numbers or addresses. They were able to do so, through connections with other people: Jim knows Phil who knows Artie who dates Sharon whose best friend is Jenny who can introduce Jim to . . . Sally. Bingo, Jim has connected himself to Sally.

So ABC found some Jim and Sally types who want to be country singers and told them to connect themselves to Martina in six degrees or less.

One of them knew someone who knew Martina's housekeeper's hairdresser.

Bingo, this person is now one of the six people set to participate in a Tuesday Wildhorse Saloon showcase in hopes of being judged as one of the three people worthy of having Martina produce their demonstration recording, in hopes of (pause here for breath) getting that demo heard by the brass at Sony/BMG who can (pause for another breath) either accept or reject the artist.
