so jo dee messina did a show at the race track in philly on sunday, and my grandfather works at the track, so he got tickets for me and my grandmom to go, and i was real excited all week for it, then sunday rolls around and it was raining allll day so me and my grandmom decided not to go. i was ok with that b/c i had already seen jo dee in concert before so it wasn't too big of a deal. well i got an email from my grandmom this morning telling me that my grandfather had told the production manager that we were going and i was a huge country music fan and after the show, the manager was looking for us to bring us into jo dee's trailer to meet her!!!! and not only that, she was supposed to perform for 75 minutes but ended up performing for 2 hours!!! i am so bummed that i missed this chance, but oh well, what can ya do?

I just need to rant, and I figure some college students in Mville can relate.

I have this writing professor who has been a little less than helpful throughout the semester. We have read four novels (the focus of the course is race) and have had to write papers on all of them. Now, as my final, I have to write a 7-10 page paper relating the 4 novels. Ok, no big deal. The thing is, he is a VERY VERY critical grader, not one person in my class has gotten above an 80 on any of the papers, and this final paper is worth 25% of my final grade. Again, this is understandable, since it IS a writing intensive course. So my last week of classes is next week, and the rough draft of my paper is due Monday. He was sick this past Monday, and did not give us any kind of assignment, just said "come to class Wednesday." (I forgot to mention i have a second 7-10 page paper due on Tuesday for my literature class). I walk into class today and he gives us a homework assignment that can ONLY be done in our campus library, that has no relevance to the class whatsoever, and that I feel will not help us in the future, b/c like it or not, printed resources are a dying breed. This assignment is also due Monday, and is a very tedious assignment. I am so frustrated and fed up with him pulling assignments out of his you-know-what in the second to last week of class b/c he needs more grades for us.

Has anyone else had such a rough professor like this? and how did you deal with it? I'm on the verge of tears b/c I have SO much work to do in such a short period of time, I honestly don't know how I'm going to get it all done, without substituting sleeping/eating with work.

sorry this is so long, and thanks for letting me vent!! Off to work.....until the end of time...

so I just got back from the Emerson Drive concert here at school, and let me just say: WOW.

they put on such a great energetic show! this is probably one of the best concerts I've ever been to! they were rocking from beginning to end. I'm not too too familiar with their material, but they did Fall Into Me, I Should Be Sleeping, A Good Man, Moments, and my all time favorite, Devil Went Down To Georgia.

if you ever get a chance, see them!! they're so amazing live!!

so...i'm walking to my 5:00 class which is about halfway across campus and is in the center of all the academic buildings. it was all blocked off by police tape and i could see police officers blocking it. my school is in a VERY small town, and i would be willing to bet 95% of the entire shippensburg police force was there. so i'm talking with some girls in my class, and we're like "so..what's going on?" so apparently there was a suspicious package delivered to the building behind my class building with a bomb threat. the entire university has canceled classes for the rest of the day.

right after the VA tech tragedy, the president of my university said "that no extra safety precautions would be taken" but apparently...that is not enough. now we're having bomb threats. it's ridiculous.

i should not be feeling like i can't go to class without feeling endangered.

to quote my friend's roommate: "remember when we had spring weather in spring and winter weather in winter? b/c i don't"

here it is...april 5...two days after 80 degree weather....and i walk outside into a curtain of flurries!!!

i'm ready for this "WINTER" to be over!!!

anyone else have crazy winter weather when it should be spring?
