This is my very firts attempt to publish a photo at this forum, so please be patient! I'm too old for running pc's and have no grandchildren to ask for advices. Please also excuse all linguistical erors and mispelings - this is a korean pc with a confused swede behind the keys. laugh.gif
I took this photo of world record cute Martina when she opened for Garth Brooks in Stockholm, Sweden, at his world tour in 1994 (not sure of the year). I shot it in between all the mist and smoke that seemes to be compulsory pollutions on stage theese days.
I had a short interview with her before the show (I work at a radio station), but she didn't want me to take any pics then, 'cause she didn't wear any make up. She was unaware of the fact that she looked super good anyway, so I guess that a poor self confidence and an unabilty to estimate one's own looks is a folk disease in the lutheran, self denying, west. She looked really glad, however, when I told her she looked really good without any putty in her face tongue.gif, so I hope she understood my opinion.
When I gave her an appreciating comment for being so slim, she said -Yeah, I'm skinny! and I had to explain for her again that she's not skinny at all but lookes gorgeous and that I would hug her 25 times a day if she was my sweet daughter, and I think she understood what I meant; at least she smiled. I fell splat flat fot her charming personality this very time, anyway.
I guess she might have been pregnant expecting her first daughter at this time, but I'm not sure.

First of all welcome to the board! It's awesome to see more people from Europe here!! smile.gif

Thanks so much for sharing your Martina experience with us and for posting the picture! Unfortunately at that time I was not enlightened yet, so I didn't get a chance to see Martina in Europe. Maybe one day I will! It doesn't hurt to dream, right? biggrin.gif

And yes, Martina was pregnant with Delaney at that time. As a matter of fact, if I remember correctly, she found out she was pregnant while she was in Sweden biggrin.gifAt least that's what I remember from one of the older interviews with her.

Well anyway, I hope you stick around and have fun here! smile.gif

I notice that I failed in making the pic clickable. Surf to http://countrydalarna.forum24.se/countrydalarna-about30.html and click on the pic there instead.

Hey there Picker.

Nice pic. Thanks. And Welcome to Martinaville!

And I like that way you slipped in a little social commentary in the middle of it all! laugh.gif
" so I guess that a poor self confidence and an unabilty to estimate one's own looks is a folk disease in the lutheran, self denying, west." laugh.gifLove it.

I think it's just modesty on Martina's part.

Cordially,

Tom

Well I don't really use much make-up, so if I didn't want pics without make-up, I don't think I would have many pictures of myself... LOL

I think it's an American thing Ania.

Not necessarily. I mean almost all of my friends use a lot of make-up every day and all, but I'm different I guess... LOL I'm really only into the basic skin care and I don't use many fancy cosmetics. Some of my friends are like that as well, and some wouldn't leave their house without putting a proper amount of make-up on biggrin.gif

Hello Steel Picker. Welcome to the board.
Are you by any chance a fan of Jill Johnson? Had to ask since you're from Sweden.

Will

Hello, Will!

No, I can't say that - Jill isn't much of a country singer, in fact. She's countryrock at best, but I would label her pop-rock with a little twist of country on record, and pure pop-rock on stage. She's a fairly good artist with good musicians in her band, but it would be plain wrong to call her a country singer.
There's a great interest for genuine country music in Sweden, and lots of people drive up to 10 hrs to get to our n:o 1 annual show, The Furuvik Festival http://www.furuvik.se/country-festivalen/c...festivalen.aspx (The Pine Bay Festival) near Gävle, some 2 hrs north of Stockholm. There is always some good US act there and several good swedish bands.
There's more than one american country singer that has remarked that they've met a greater interest for genuine country music here than at home in the US.
