Carrie Underwood is the most successful American idol winner ever in most people's eyes. She has taking the country music genre by storm with her incredible talent, striking looks and great personality She seems as down to earth as possible but now there are whispers that she has gone diva.

OK! Magazine reports this week that after Carrie Underwood's appearance at Fashion Week in New York City, onlookers wondered if the sweet Oklahoma native had turned into a diva. Say it ain't so Carrie Underwood.

The weekly entertainment magazine reports that the "Before He Cheats" singer, 24, shunned fans who wanted a photo with the Grammy winner as she left celeb hot spot Marquee on Sept. 4, telling them, "I gotta go, guys."

Backstage at Fashion rocks on Sept. 6, an onlooker tells OK that Carrie seemed to give host Jeremy Piven, 42, the cold shoulder when she found out he was interested in her.

But the report claims that Carrie's rudest snub was reserved for country great Reba McEntire, 52, who approached the young star at a Country Music Association afterparty in May to ask how she was and whether she had been busy. "Carrie replied, 'Obviously,' and walked off!" an eyewitness tells OK. Dissing Reba?

There's even more - the mag reports that the Checotah, Okla., native is gaining a reputation in Nashville, particularly at her favorite sushi spot, Virago, where she is known for scrimping on tips, says a source. But friends of the star say the country crooner is misunderstood.

"She's quite a shy girl, and considering where she comes from, I think she's handling it very well," American Idol fashion stylist Miles Siggin tells OK. "People misinterpret her shyness for being a diva or standoffishness." I'm going with that explanation - she is still feeling her way around being a world wide superstar.

Now OK! Magazine isn't exactly the most reliable source and it could be a complete rumor, however there is always a chance it is true and if this story is true, I don't think I ever want to listen to Carrie again. You DO NOT diss Reba, she is like country music royalty.

This is all hearsay form people who can't bear another's success.

"Scrimping on tips". Why, their miffed that she doesn't drop a benji for a tip every time she eats?

I definitely agree with Tom on this.

But also, everyone has bad days and sometimes they're short on time. In that instance with the fans after Fashion Week, she said "I gotta go, guys", like she had to be somewhere. UHM OBVIOUSLY. Her job is to be places, basically, and if she didn't have time, she didn't have time. No big deal.

OK! is a tabloid magazine... I wouldn't believe everything you read.

She is very young and came into fame and money almost overnight. Most people would change in that situation. Even if some of that is true, she is not the terrible person that a large number of people say she is....

09/21/07 : Just read the funniest thing I was just doing my nightly internet surfing when I stumbled across an interesting article...Now, normally, I wouldn't even comment about such an article, except that EVERY SINGLE THING they said about me was COMPLETELY WRONG!!! The article said that I have become a diva and refused to take pictures with fans outside of Marquee in NY, dissed Jeremy Piven AND Reba McEntire (at the CMA after party) and often scrimp on tips at Virago in Nashville...ok...First off, there are videos on TMZ of me signing autographs and saying hey to fans outside of Marquee. Jeremy Piven and I had a nice chat backstage before I performed at Fashion Rocks and he seems quite nice. I don't even remember Reba McEntire being at the CMA after party I went to (and I assure you, that every time I have seen her she has been amazingly nice and I would never have any reason to be anything but admiring and respectful of her) and I have NEVER EVEN BEEN to Virago in Nashville (and, being a former waitress, trust me, I am a very good tipper). So, I just thought I would set the record strait...Hopefully you would all know that I don't act like that and never will! I just saw it and thought I would share my perspective so everyone knows how rediculous some of these "news" articles really are...

Two words: Kelly Clarkson

I doubt any of it is true, she did seem a little rude to some people at the 2006 CMA Music Festival but she could just be stressed, if she did then I only wish her a faster "Gretchen Wilson" burn out

I want it to be very clear that I wasn't posting this as an attack on Carrie. I was just posting what I read. And I stated that OK! wasn't the most reliable news source but I also said that if was true, the Reba part, that that wasn't cool. I am glad to see Carrie respond to this.

I may not the big biggest Carrie Underwood fan here, but I respect her enough to check for reliable sources before making a 'news' post. I've read the other replies as well, so that is why I added this.

Actually it is a FACT that Carrie is the most successful Idol! Her over 6 MILLION album selling record has passed Kelly!

And about her being rude to fans at the 2006 CMA Fest... We you one of them or was this hear say?!?! Carrie is shy and quiet, doesnt mean shes a rude person, or full of herself! and even IF (and thats a BIIIIG IF) she was a little rude... SHE IS HUMAN she is entitled to a bad day, lol just to clarify im not mad or anything or trying to start something, just adding in my 2 cents on the subject thats all!:)

My thoughts exactly!!! I've met Carrie, & personally speaking, she is very kind. wildangel06 is right, too...I just don't think it's possible for certain fans to be understanding unless they've walked a mile or two in a famous person's shoes.

While I am not crazy about Carrie being everywhere nowadays, I would certainly never believe any of those things about her. She's a sweet girl and I agree that her shyness might come off as different things to some people, but I don't think she could ever be purposefully rude to anyone. And like you said, she's human after all, so if she ever refused to sign an autograph or take a picture, it doesn't mean that she's rude or becoming a diva or whatever. She doesn't have to sign every single autograph she's asked for and I personally believe that she does more in that department than a lot of artists. I mean show me an artist with her achievements as far as sales and awards go, who signs autographs after almost every show!

Carrie is very nice to her fans. After the CMAs we headed over to where their afterparty was (and she is right Reba was not at this party) and it started pouring rain. When Carrie came out we asked for a picture (she was under an awning and not getting wet) but she said "of course!" She just asked that we hurry because her feet were killing her. But she was sweet.

And BTW, I ONLY got to see her at the CMA Fest AS SHE WAS LEAVING her booth, because she signed autographs her whole way out, as she was walking out, I cant even tell u how many artists I saw just push their way through the crowds, Carrie musta signed an ADDITIONAL 50 autographs just as she was leaving! So It infuriates me when people say she is stuck up and doesnt Care about her fans! Its COMPLETE CRAP! Anyway I digress... Thankyou again ania for that post!:)

You know, I recall Martina being a bit of a "diva" during her CMT special. Like many on here have said about Underwood, Martina mighta been having a bad day. But Carrie interacts so much with her fans, whether it be at a concert or on her fanclub. She came into her fan club's chat one night at about 2am and stayed for about an hour and chatted with the 9 fans that were in there, me being one of them. How many artists do you know that will do this sort of thing informally? I can't think of one. And she also replies to topics on message boards. So Carrie a diva? Nah...not that I can see!

I think Kelly's worldwide sales totals is at 15 or 16 million. That is what I heard. I think overall she has sold more albums then Carrie, but Carrie is quickly catching up to her.

Carrie probably signed more autographs in the last 2 years than some artists throughout their entire careers It's just really hurful to make up stuff like that or use a one-time situation (that nobody but Carrie has insight into) to say that she's a diva and doesn't care about her fans. So what if she told somebody "I gotta go"? Even if she did, she must have had a good reason not to be able to stop and chat and sign autographs. And it's not like she owes anybody anything, so I really don't get how refusing to take a picture or sign an autograph has to be a sign that an artist is rude. But overall, this article is just ridiculous and I would love to meet some of those "onlookers"! LOL

As for Carrie vs Kelly, I do believe that Kelly had more international success (her albums sold great in Poland) simply because Carrie sings music that people have too many stereotypes about. It's beyond me how someone who was so successful on the charts in the US, has never been introduced to European audience, at least not to the extent that Kelly has.

Yep, here's all the valuable stuff I've picked up recently from tabliod headlines: a "trusted friend" said that Tim and Faith wanted another baby when Tim went on Ellen and said no, Garth is caught in some murder scandle, Loretta is dying and broke, Dolly is anorexic, Kenny is gay, and I wouldn't take that aliens coming to destroy the earth thing too lightly either.

I also saw a tabloid of Sara Evans evidently having an affair with many celebrities including Kenny Chesney; Richard Marx; the members of the band 3 Doors Down; her dancing partner on Dancing With The Stars; and the list goes on. Man! Sara must have been a busy girl!! I definitely do not believe that story!

I try not to believe everything I see. First, I admire Carrie for posting the rumors on her website. I don't think she would snub Reba. Carrie was my absolute favorite on American Idol that season. I do like most of her songs. She does get all the spotlight which I do not think is fair. I don't think she is asking for it though. I am curious to hear the new album.

I've heard of a similar "story" about Reba a couple years back... how she used to come into this restaurant and was soo nice, and now she was a horrible Diva who was rude to everyone and skimped on the tip.

Actually Carrie isn't even close. She hasn't even had her album in the top 100 in any country outside of North america. So she is far from a world star. She is just a North America AI singer.
I think these lies and fake hype by her fans and label and management are laughable.
And if Carrie ever acted like that in front of real worldwide megastar like Shania she would be put in her place. but Shania has so much class she would just ignore it.

I am new and just joined and am a fan of many country artists. Shania brought me to country music and she is my favorite. I now am a fan of so many others.
So just because you don't like what I am saying there is no need to say I am another person you didn't like. Like I said, anyone can check my IP address and see that I have not joined this site before.

What does Shania have to do with this? Anyway, I love that Carrie addressed this BS. It's time she stands up for herself. I've met her a few times and each time she has been nothing but nice. Very sweet! I've seen her go out of her way to sign things for people and make them feel special.

I am glad to see Carrie sticking up for herself. Does anybody else find it interesting that she even responded to these statements? I would hope that the majority of people out there would know not to believe what they read or see in the tabloid media..

Well Shania really would be a real worldwide megastar if she could both put Carrie in her place and ignore her at the same time since they are 2 mutually exclusive options.

Now that we have beyond the shadow of a doubt established that Carrie has 1) ripped off lyrics from "Anyway" from Martina, 2) dissed Reba, 3) refused to give an autograph to a wheelchair bound man (she slapped him up too from everything I've heard) and 4) is a poor tipper, here are a few other controversies she has been involved in.

1) She shot Tupac
2) Was spotted on the Grassy knoll
3) Was behind the whole moon landing hoax
4) Was the reason the Dallas Cowboys imploded last year (yes, I started that rumor and I'm sticking to it)
5) Is the brains behind the whole Area 51 mystery

and most importantly

6) is the main reason "John McBride smokes"

Just to add something that I heard the other day . . A friend of mine works at the Cheesecake Factory in Nashville. Carrie and her entourage walked in and requested a table. My friend (well actually a friend of a friend - but I believe her) who is the hostess there asked "What would you like the name to go under?" thinking maybe she wanted to kept things on the down low. Carries reply to her was "Well um I guess you can put it under Carrie or Underwood" and I guess it wasn't the words she used it was just the tone she used them in. Like don't you know who I am. She said there are country stars that are in there everyday and Carrie was the rudest she had ever seen. I believe her and I like Carrie but I just hope fame and fortune isn't makeing her into a monster.

What fortune? New artists starting out hardly make anything at all. American Idol and her label made most of the money.
She has very little money in the grand scheme of things.
As for her tone and attitude,thats what happens when you start to believe your labels hype and clippings from the media.
Look at the one of the biggest and richest music acts of alltime like Shania. She is worth 800 million, is the biggest country female of alltime and an icon worldwide and yet she is very humble.
She never walks around with too many people because it draws attention to her. She never uses her name to get a table at a restaurent as she said on Larry King and she lives a private life.
And Shania is a ten times bigger star than Underwood can only dream of.

Well I really wasn't downing Carrie just stateing an incident that happened. She might have just been haveing a bad day. I dont really know too mcuha bout Shania and don't really care. I know all stars have there bad days and might not want to deal with fans or the public.

And my point is that the really bigger stars like Shania who have established themselves and are filthly rich icons are the ones who are more humble and show more class usually.
It is the ones starting out who think they are bigger than they are that show no class and pretend they are somebody.
