So, my old camera, which I didn't like anyway, broke. So, I'm in the market for a new one. It has to be sold at Circut City, because they are giving me the $150 refund. Does anyone have recommendations for cameras? I obviously can't get a professional type one, but that's fine. Your thoughts are greatly appreciated. smile.gif

Well, I'm by no means a camera expert but 2 years ago I was given a Canon Powershot A520 as a gift and I love it...It's super easy to use and has a bunch of built in features. It comes with a software package with a photo program that's pretty easy to print your own pics off of via your own computer. The best part for me anyway is that it doesn't have a dock and can plug directly into your PC or printer and you don't have to do the rechargeable battery thing either.

The only thing that irritates me sometimes is that mine is only 4.0 megapixels and 14 x zoom which isn't bad or anything just not helpful for concert pics when your higher up laugh.gifbut it can come with more as far as i know...

It's not a super professional camera or anything but it's great for everyday use, is pretty compact and easy to use.

Hope that helped some...
Terry
I also have a Canon Powershot... mines a Powershot A630. 8.0 megapixels with 16x zoom. I love my camera...takes really really good pictures. My Martina concert pics came out awesome. My sister has a Canon Powershot sd750... its smaller... 7.1 megapixels but the zoom's a lot smaller...but it still takes great photos

Terry, I'm trying to look that one up now, since I need a new camera too. (Moline was the last straw!)
How much of that 16x is optical?

I just bought a Canon Powershot A630 also. I took to the Lake Tahoe concert and got great shots!! It's really a great camera...of course anything probably would be compared to what I used to have. LOL! I'm planning on buying the extendable lens for my trip to Nashville too!

Canon models are very popular. I own 3 of there cameras.

I've heard bad things about models with the smile or face recognition so if you get one with those features... shut them off.

Speaking of cameras, does anyone have a Kodak Easy Share? If you do, I need help. I want to take some pictures at the Brad Paisley concert, but every time I take pictures at a show, they are grainy. How do I fix this? There's options for lighting I think, I don't understand how to fix it.

I have an Easy Share - I guess mine is about 4 years old now- about time for an upgrade- but it has been very very good to me and you guys seem to like some of the pics I have taken at martina concerts over the years

Keys for me on pics are
1) turn OFF the flash- if you are not within 10-12 feet it is a negative not a positive
2) I set it on the psam setting not the totaly auto setting
3) I set it for rapid multi shots and snap of 4-6 at a time and delete the ones that are no good since Martina refuses to be still ( I told her I could take better pics if she would hold still and the response was something like "yeah, that is going to happen")
4) Make sure you are fully charged and you have your memory card clear before the show
5)use only the first part of the zoom do not go into the section where it changes(I do not have my camera in front of me so I can never get straight the digital vs the optical zoom)
6) try to hold camera still- I am not as good as I would like to be but they won't let me carry my tripod into concerts
Hope that helps

I do not have a Kodak Easy Share and likely different Easy Share model #'s have different menu settings but -do you have the model's owner manual? Or look up particular model number on Kodak site if something about it on line exist. Basically the higher your camera has the ISO set at-the grainier it will appear. On Better equipt models you can change the ISO setting. You may be able to bring up a menu to set ISO at 3200 or ISO at 800 for example and at ISO 800 the picture will appear less grainy. I never use in P-program mode but in S-shutter priority mode. 1/60 shutter will work very well if movement is basically still, without flash but overall 1/125 safer. Learn what you have, practice, try using at a local team spirit high school gym event, then get into your spirit of 76 auto-take a (journey) laugh.gifAnd don't stop believing it will all get better in focus one of these days. Problems can arise as to no camera's allowed- or no flash pictures allowed- or no long lenses allowed....How Long is Too Long ????

A friend of mine that is a pro photographer uses Nikon. He also recommends Sony as well. But he was talking higher end equipment as well. Nikon requires a little work with the photos. My experience with the Sony was more of a What You See Is What you Get.

I recently bought the 8.0 megapixel Sony Cybershot and I love it!!! It was $300 I think at Best Buy

I have a Canon Powershot A570IS (Image Stabilization), and I still need to figure out all the features in order to nail down the best picture! It's so complicated to me lol. But I love the viewing screen size & the way ppl have talked Canon cameras up a lot!

I got a Canon a year ago for my birthday and I absolutely love it. It takes pictures in so many situations..indoor, outdoor, and all that...I don't know a lot of details but I just know its great! My family had a Kodak easyshare but we didnt like it because it was easy to use but it couldnt take good pictures inside so I wouldn't recommend Kodak. I'd recommend Canon. Plus when you go to the store just ask for help...they are always really helpful at circuit city they give you their honest opinion when i go..

I went to the store last night all set to buy a Canon, but had my head turned by a new 10X Zoom 7MP Panasonic with Image Stabilization. Was $279 at Costco. Of course, they give you NO help, but I do get to try it for 90 days. I'll be using it at the Martina show at Constitution Hall in Nov. I'll report back, or I guess you'll just know from the pics I post!
