I thought I knew everything, but I missed fact that she also went 0 for 4 in 1998 at the CMA's.

That's sad. I just hope she does not get too discouraged. I mean wih Anyway not getting number 1 and WUL not doing as well as we all expected, I just hope she keeps doing what she's doing because she will be back on top soon!

It's an honor to be nominated! First the Colorado Rockies go down 0-4 and now Martina! Better luck next year!

Forget the CMA's. She is still the Top Female Vocalist in my eyes.

One can only hope she doesn't go the Toby Keith route. He's so down on the CMAs (27 nominations and only 2 wins) that he doesn't even bother with the CMAs anymore.
Makes you wonder how "fake" Faith Hills sore loser camera shot was last year. These people might be
rich and famous but at the same time they would like a little something for the effort. And sometimes a
nomination just isn't enough.
Were Faith and Tim even in attendance? I watched live on and off until Big + Rich (I like these guys but What the h*ll was that) finished and caught Martina on tape this morning. I wasn't really paying all that much attention to rich and famous in the seats.
Martina showed them with her singing. We can't help it if the voters didn't/can't see that.
Half the acts that performed looked like they came from a 1980s MTV awards show. If that is going
to going to be the voting standard, be prepared for more loses in the future.

I almost can't believe that Martina didn't get even one award! That sucks!! But she's our #1 anyway, and she always will be!!!

I was so mad that Martina did not win any of the 4 awards. All I kept thinking was that she was up against Carrie Underwood for all 4 awards as well. I kept thinking that Carrie was going to win all the awards. Martina is #1 in my book and at least she is still being nominated. She is still getting the standing ovations for her song performances! Martina will have better luck next year!

Tim and Faith were not at the awards. I personally think it's because of how Tim was treated and the backlash of Faith's reaction last year. Reba said it best...Faith should have been more respected this year and I agree Tim definitely got slided.

But in 1998, she got two standing ovation in one night... one for "Broken Wing," one for "Still Holdin' On."

That was the CMA 40th Anniversary Special.
She sang "Wrong Again" on the award show the fall of 1998. "A Broken Wing" was nominated for Single, Song and Video of the Year, while her streak of Female Vocalist of the Year nominations was just getting under way.

Interesting thought- that is a good point. Lets not forget that SONYBMG controls about 25% of the worlds music market once you figure in distribution..
Just about every Independent in one form or another has to work with one of the big 4 for distribution purposes.
What the big 4 want- they get.
