The song sucks, but he sings it better than it deserves. This is what happens when you let America vote on which crappy amateur song gets to be the coronation song. Especially when so many thought Archie would be the one stuck with it, instead.

Plus, everyone pretty much hated Inside Your Heaven when it was released (and I think that's why Carrie won, because they made Bo sing it too, and he really had problems with it, but it wasn't written to suit HER either) and it did eventually grow on me. Some. lol And it was written by a so-called pro.

okay, thank you. I'm not familiar with all the idiosyncracies of the AI protocol. I just know what I heard Cook singing and that I didn't care for it. I'd heard him sing some terrific songs on the show, so was surprised about this selection. I wasn't aware that it was 'selected' for him! I hope 'they' don't select the other songs on his CD! Not if they're going to be like this one. He deserves to have a good record/cd. at least in my opinion. I wanted "Archie" to win, anyway. At least of the two last ones left. When the contestants were on Larry King the last couple days, Cook seemed to dominate the conversation. I know he is the oldest and they look up to him as the 'daddy' (as they said), but I would have liked to have heard more of what the others had to say. Oh well, it's not my show!

Well, "they" didn't select it for him, America did. LOL "They" will probably interfere with what's on his first CD too, though. Only they have more talent at it than the average Internet voter, and they will take the songs from professional song writers, not some kid who wants to enter a songwriting contest.

I hope his cd is better than jordin sparks' cd. It was.. well terrible, and she has a beautiful voice.

I can't wait for new music from David Cook... he is one of my favorite American Idols ever... but his song choice for the first single was written more for Archuleta IMHO... I can't wait to hear his original rock music compositions.

I like Time Of My Life okay. The song sucks, for sure, but I can't help but giggle whenever he sings the part about magic rainbows, and that makes it all okay. He sings it like a trooper, though I still wish he could have released Dream Big instead like HE chose (he didn't choose TOML, it "won" the songwriters contest, and the producers kinda forced it upon them). But regardless, TOML is the first AI coronation single I've bought.

And as far as his album goes, he better write a good bit of it. But I have faith in him, that no matter what, it'll be what he wants. And I'll buy it no matter what 'cause he's just that awesome.
