Martina McBride Internet Digest for October 28, 1996
----------------------------------------------------
Hello everyone!
I have made some major improvements to the Home Page! Please take a look
at the new design and let me know if you like it! There have been a couple
of new features added also. You can now download a couple of sound clips
using the RealAudio Player. Right now I have Martina singing "Beyond the
Blue" and "Your Cheatin' Heart" on the page. The version of Your Cheatin'
Heart came from the Crazy Horse radio show, more info on that show in the
Discography.
I am also beta-testing a new Java based Web Chat program. It is quirky=20
and seems to have a few bugs, but check it out. It basically allows a=20
home page to host it's own chat room. If that seems to be something that
people are interested in, maybe we can schedule some chat times on irc
at #martina-mcbride.
Aside from the web page, the Internet Digest submissions are really rolling
in! Thanks to everyone who has contributed! And, with that said, let's get
to todays messages:=3D=3D=3D>

Hi Darren! =3D)
I wrote a note to you last week that you put into your digest, but I=20
forgot to mention that the name of the Christmas Album Martina sings "Oh=20
Holy Night" on is called Mother & Child....
(If you don't remember me, I'm Kelli Beitlich 17, from Minnetonka MN...)
I heard that you will be passing these messages on to Martina, and I=20
thought that if she does get these, and does read them, there is something=
=20
I wanted to say......
MARTINA: I am a HUGE fan of yours. You are my favorite country=20
performer, and I LOVE the purity of your voice, but I'm kinda dissapointed=
=20
because you haven't put on a big concert in the Minneapolis, MN area since=
=20
I can remember. You have though, made the trip to two outdoor concerts I=20
have been to this year....CountryJam in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, and Wee Fest=
=20
in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota. However; The next performances I see in this=
=20
area are in Red Wing, MN (the casino there...Treasure Island Casino) on=20
November 1st and 2nd....I would love to go, but as I mentioned,I am only 17=
=20
years old, so I can't. It would be GREAT if you did a concert here=20
sometime...Minneapolis..I would most definately show up and would LOVE=20
EVERY MINUTE OF IT!!! =3D)
There are sooooo many fans that support you here..I am proud to=20
report that a DJ on a station here (I won't mention who) doesn't care for=20
either REBA OR FAITH...but loves you! (but i personally like all three of=
=20
you..) =3D) ( you being my favorite, of ALL TIME! )
You would make so many people happy, and then people like Foster Gauley who=
=20
lives in Canada wouldn't have to drive so far! (Hey, if I lived there, I=20
would too) =20
Thanks for listening!
Sincerely,
Kelli Beitlich
PS...I hope Delaney is doing great!!!=20

Hi Darren,
You did good work on this digest! I love hearing from other Martina fans.
She is my favorite female country artist. I have all her CD's and yes that
christmas album where she sings O Holy Night is worth getting. I have met
Martina once and she was very nice.
My favorite male artists are Toby Keith and Mark Wills. I had front row
seats to a Toby concert last night and what a great show even though Toby
was really sick. He even took time to sign autographs for all fan club
members and the line was long. He is truly a great performer and wonderful
man!!
Thanks you all,

Hey ya'll,
My name is Christa Choate and I am a sophmore at Samford Univ. in
Birmingham, Al. I had never heard of Martina until one day when my brother
was watching CMT and Martina's video of "That's Me" was on. I then fell in
love with her. That song is an awesome song, as are all of her others. I
have to agree with the rest of ya'll about her powerful voice. She has got
one powerful voice!! I also like Reba and Faith Hill. I have not seen=
Martina
in concert but I am dying too. I never know when she's coming around. =
Ya'll
may think I am dumb but I think it would be exciting to travel around with=
her
for a week, just to see her in action. I would love to do that. I have=
always
wanted to be a performer and I think it would be a great opportunity to see
what being on the road is like. Call me crazy but I think it would be fun. =
I
take care of children so I would love to meet Delaney. I had heard that
she was a Southern Baptist, does anyone know, not that it matters but I was
curious. Darren, you are doing a wonderful job!!!! Keep up the wonderful
work!!!

HI Everyone!
Hi, I am a new member to the Martina McBride Internet Digest, snd I
would like to say that she is one GREAT performer!!! I am a 13 year old=
from
Chesapeake, VA. My dream is to become a country singer when I grow up. I
went to see Martina in the middle of October, but I missed half of it,
because I had my dad's zoom lens camera, and I didn't know how to change the
film. If anyone has any pix that they are willing to send me, please do!
Also if anyone has a video tape that they taped, and can send me, please=
do.
THANKS A MILLION!!!!!!!!!!

Hey Darren...I've got a couple questions for you...
Oh, and I missed taping martina on Crook and Chase... now i'm mad.....If=20
anyone has a copy, let me know how it was... please..?
Q. Do you know if Martina will be puting out a tape with all of her=20
music videos on it ??? It would be neat if she did ....
Q. I heard something about a documentary on Martina'a life through=20
Country Weekly in a September issue...(Martina at home)is there =
=20
going to be one?? If so, where can we get it, and how much =
=20
will it cost?
Here's a little info. about me...I haven't given any yet....
My name is Kelli Beitlich. I am a 17 year old junior at Hopkins High=20
School in Minnetonka, Minnesota...I have been a Martina fan since the day I=
=20
heard Independence Day for the first time...I have followed her ever since.=
=20
I guess you could say Martina was the one country artist to turn me on to=20
country..before her i liked a lot of Roy Orbison's work, the Traveling=20
Wilburys and the Eagles..(I still like the eagles...) When I first heard=20
Martina, I was at Target getting some audio tapes when the TV's there were=
=20
on CMT and her video (Independence Day) was playing..Her voice got me=20
instantly hooked...Today I like a lot of country, Faith Hill, Garth Brooks,=
=20
Tim McGraw, Shania Twain (got my cd autographed), and Bryan White are among=
=20
those I like. But Martina remains my constant favorite. I saw her at=20
CountryJam in Eau Claire, Wisconsin this year and I got Wild Angels=20
autographed. She has such a voice that others try to imitate, but they=20
could never duplicate the success Martina has had...there will only be one=
=20
Martina, and I'm happy to say that she is THE best around!! =3D) (i know=
you=20
guys agree with me when i say that!)
KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK MARTINA!!!!
kelli b. =3D)
(I also missed taping Crook & Chase, so if anyone
has a copy, please let me know! I haven't heard
anything about a documentary or releasing the
videos on tape, although a lot of people have been
requesting such a tape. Hopefully we can get one
soon! -Darren)

Hi Everyone:
My name is Michele Payne. I am a 32 year old wife and mother of two =3D
boys. My oldest is 15 and in grade 10 and my youngest is 2 and goes out =3D
to a private home babysitter everyday. We also have a dog and a cat, so =3D
we have a full house. I am a secretary for a small business. I live in =3D
a small village called Nashwaak Bridge. It is close to the city of =3D
Fredericton which is in the province of New Brunswick, Canada. I am =3D
sure most have never even heard of Fredericton, but I hope you at least =3D
have heard of New Brunswick. So that is my introduction of myself.
I have been a fan of Martina's since I heard the song "Cheap Wiskey". =3D
That is one of my husband's favorite songs. We are both country fans. =3D
I have been a country fan for as long as I can remember. I saw Martina =3D
in concert in 1993 in Moncton, New Brunswick. She appeared with Marty =3D
Stuart, Sammy Kershaw was also with them. It was an excellent concert. =3D
All three performers were great.
I am also a fan of Reba McEntire, Lorrie Morgan, Alan Jackson, Vince =3D
Gill, Dwight Yoakam and Sawyer Brown. Alan Jackson is my favorite male =3D
artist. I saw him in concert in Saint John, New Brunswick in May of =3D
this year. Bryan White opened the show for Alan. It was also an =3D
excellent concert. Bryan was great, but Alan took my breath away when =3D
he walked on stage. I enjoy most of the artists out there today and I =3D
should mention three other artists that I really enjoy listening to, =3D
especially since they are fellow Canadians like me, Shania Twain, Terri =3D
Clark and Michelle Wright.
Anyway enough about me, I just wanted to let everyone know my thoughts =3D
on Martina and country music in general. I really enjoy reading the =3D
messages from everyone. Keep them coming.
Bye for now,
Michele

Hello everyone! I'm a 39-year-old Copy Editor from Cincinnati, Ohio. =3D
In addition to being a huge Martina McBride fan, my other favorites =3D
include Trisha Yearwood, Collin Raye, Sammy Kershaw, John Berry, and Lee =3D
Roy Parnell. I love Martina's singing and I think she projects an =3D
"ideal" image of what a country artist should be. She is smart, =3D
attractive, nice and most importantly, incredibly talented. =3D20
I "stumbled" upon Martina in a rather unusual way. I belonged to a =3D
mail-order CD club and needed to order one more CD to fulfill my =3D
membership obligation. The selections to choose from were somewhat =3D
limited, so to fulfull my order I bought Martina's "The Time Has Come" =3D
CD. I had never heard her sing, but I thought "what the hell" I'd give =3D
her a try.
I received the CD during the Christmas season, and as I was putting up =3D
my Christmas tree I put on my
new CD. I wound up replaying the CD at least six or eight times, one =3D
time after another! I thought, "boy did I luck out -- not only did I =3D
order a CD of someone I had never heard before, but she's one of the =3D
finest country singers I've ever heard!
After that I began turning on all my friends to Martina and told them to =3D
buy the CD. To this day (although
I love her other CDs) I still love "The Time Has Come" CD the best and I =3D
still play it often. I've seen=3D20
Martina in concert and she literally gave me chills and goosebumps. She =3D
is wonderful!
I'm looking forward to seeing Martina's career flourish ... she's the =3D
best!

Thought I'd share how I first got into .Martina's music. I live near LA
and for 3 years now, the ACM has sponsored a mini-FanFair called
FanFest. In 1994 it premiered and Martina was there. I am not kidding
when I say that "Independence Day" was just released. It was maybe four
days after the show I heard it on the radio. The whole show was
wonderful and full of energy. I had heard "My Baby Loves Me" before and
really liked it, but seeing a performer of Martina's calibre luive just
pulls you in. It wasn't long after the show I bought "The wat that I
am."
The next year she was at the show again and this time I got to meet her.
I told her that it was because of her show the previous year that I am
now a fan.
Between her albums, by far my very favorite song is "Independence Day."
Like the one person who posted here, I too get goose bumps when I hear
it. Other favorites (with someone like Martina, you can't just really
like one, goota have a few, right?) are: Cheap Whiskey, Strangers, Safe
in the arms of love, Phojnes are ringing, and All the things we've never
done.

Hello all!
Since I have only seen American (an Canadian) inputs on the screen so=20
far.. here's one from The Netherlands. I became a fan of Martina's=20
when I saw her singing "Independence Day" here on CMT (Country Music=20
Television), which (can you believe it?) went off the air two years=20
ago.. the Dutch are not really known for their great music taste (all=20
hardcore and house that's on the charts)!! Anyway, bought the cd in=20
Britain while staying there and in the meanwhile turned my best=20
friend into an even bigger fan than me. So she bought Wild Angels and=20
copied it for me (we're both poor students).=20
So is there anyone who can tell me if Martina has any plans coming=20
over to Europe? If she came to Holland I am sure she'd be a hit, I=20
know at least three people who would definitely attend! No seriously,=20
country is spreading is becoming more and more popular ove here and I=20
bet she could expand her markets considerably. In the meantime, I=20
envy you all who can go and visit her for real and please, Martina:=20
you seem like a smart person....come and see us here!!!
best wishes to all, Annemarie ([email protected])

Hi everyone;
I am a big fan of Martina, since I saw her first on CMT she just=20
struck me as one of the great female country singers that there is.
The trouble is I live in Prince Edward Island, for those of you who=20
do not know, that is in Atlantic Canada. We get very few Country=20
music concerts here, even though the market is high for them if we=20
get one. I have seen George Jones, Michelle Wright, Charlie Major,=20
John Berry, and Sawyer Brown. Some big names. Martina has been in=20
Moncton, New Brunswick...A short drive from here, but with the ferry=20
ride that presently links us with the main land, it prevents many=20
artists to come here. The "Fixed Link" that is now being built will=20
hopefully bring more artists here including Martina, so if that=20
happens, many fans here will be happy.=20
Also merchandise is very limited for this sort of thing around=20
here. Hopefully there willl be more of it coming in the future.=20
I hope to see my first Martina McBride concert very soon. From=20
what I can tell and hear it is quite a show.=20
Thanks

Hi!! I'm Rick Lehwald, a Mechanical Engineering student at the University
of Cincinnati. I, like many of you I see, have been an addicted Martina
McBride fan since "Independence Day". It's kinda funny, I've noticed all of
these messages have sounded like one of those AA meetings you see on T.V.
where everybody admits that they are an addict.....:) It's true though!
Once you hear Martina sing, man you can't stop listening to her CD's and
going to all the shows within a few hundred miles radius. I've been to
three shows this year and can't wait for December 14th when she comes to
Wilmington, OH !! All of her CD's go everywhere with me. Every time I
travel, I have at least her three autographed Cd's with me. If any of you
don't have "Amazing Grace, a country salute to gospel", you MUST get it! To
hear Martina sing "How Great Thou Art" is an experience you all must have.
Pretty amazing to hear it live too! Well, Darren, I am certainly glad
you've been able to catch up on the page.....looks great!!
Martina, I hope you enjoy reading all of these letters and such......I'll
see ya in Wilmington!!

Just wanna let you know that I'm a great fan of Martina (surprise :-)) and
even though
I live in Denmark, and probably never get a chance to see her in concert, I
still think
she's one of the best liver performers I have ever heard. Well, you ask, how
will he=20
know that if he has never seen her live? It so happens I've got a CD called
"Greetings
from the Wild West" a live CD recorded at the Crazy Horse Saloon in Santa
Ana, Ca.
It really shows what a great live performer she is only beaten by Suzy
Bogguss who is my
all time favourite :-) I had the pleasure of seeing Suzy in concert in
Nashville in 1994
and also have a live CD with her, so whenever I hear it, it takes me right
back to Nashville.
Well, I'm out off here, just wanted to let you know that Martina also have a
big fan here
in Denmark.=20
Btw. How do I get an autographed picture of Martina?
Greetings from Denmark
J=F8rn Lundtoft
(Hi Jorn, the easiest way to get an autographed photo is
to join the fan club! You can get the form to join from
the web page under Fan Club Info. It is worth every penny
to join! And, you may get to see Martina one day, she's
been overseas to Ireland and England already! I'll let
her know you're waiting for her! :) -Darren)

Hello fellow Martina fans,
I've been a Martina McBride fan since August, 1993. I just happened on
an afternoon concert she was giving at the West Virginia State Fair.
Country music wasn't my thing until that moment. Martina was awesome,
and I was hooked! That night, I went to her evening concert, and she
afforded everyone the opportunity to meet her and get her autograph.
Shortly after that first concert, I joined her fan club and have
attended five more Martina concerts. Each concert was better than the
one before, if that is possible. She has marvelous talent, and is always
so kind and gracious to her fans.
So many of Martina's songs are favorites of mine that the list is too
long to include in this note. I must say that at the top are
"Independence Day" and "Wild Angels." She and Gretchen Peters did make a
wonderful team, and I would like to see her do some more of Gretchen's
songs. What Martina sings speaks to the hearts of those who listen.
Mark Hively has always made going back to meet Martina a unique and fun
experience. He does a fantastic job! John is so handsome and a great
talent in his own right. Delaney is a doll. Hello to all of you. I've
really missed attending a concert these last few months and seeing you
guys. Hope to see you in 1997.

actually travelled over 2,500 miles to watch her on tour over here in

We spoke to her about organising a British MMFC fan party when she is
