Martina McBride Internet Digest for 10/30/96
--------------------------------------------
Well, tommorrow is the big day for me! It's my first Martina show in a
while. I've got to convince her to play Chicago more often! What makes
this show so special is two things, one is that it is a fabulous venue! The
Whiskey River is truly the best country western nightspot in Chicago, and it
happens to be pretty small. It is not really set up for concerts, so it
should be a very intimate show.
Number two is that the show is for a honorable charity, the Illinois Women's
Funding Federation which raises money for things like battered women. Even
if you can't make the show, you can still support them! Their phone number
is (312) 857-2707.
And, there are actually three things that make the show special for me, the
third being it is the first time I have seen Martina since starting the home
page almost one year ago! It seems like just yesterday to me. I'm greatful
for the response I've gotten from everyone, especially with this, the MMID.
It took me a long time (too long perhaps) to figure out a way to get this
organized to a point where I could maintain it easily on a daily or weekly
basis. Since I will see Martina tommorrow, I will personally hand deliver
these digests to her so she can see what the word on the net is. All future
issues will again be faxed to her via the fan club. Speaking of the fan
club, if you aren't a member yet, JOIN!! (just a little plug there)
I hope some of you got to hear Martina on the radio this morning on the
Kevin Matthews show here in Chicago. If you did, let me know how far the
signal is going these days, I know at night it hits like 30 states and
Canada. Don't dispair if you did not get to hear the interview, the nice
people over at AM 1000 are going to send me a copy of the interview to put
up on the internet. I will encode it in the RealAudio format when I get it.
If anyone else has any other Martina interviews or something similiar, let
me know, I would love to add them to the web page. Along with any pictures
you may have. If you need to send me anything, here is my address:
Darren O'Neill
P.O. Box 627

If you want whatever you are sending back, please include a postage paid
envelope. I will put up any pictures I get, and will credit the picture
taker if you like.
Well, on to the submissions for Wednesday 10/30/96

Hi Everyone!!
My name is Amy Stewart and I am a 25 year old customer service rep. for a
regional long distance company in the Northwest. I live in Salem, Oregon and
am a huge Oregon Duck fan!! (No offense to the girl who is an Oregon State
Beaver because I went to school there, too). Well, I just wanted to say how
much I enjoy all the feedback that you all have been giving to Darren and the
digest.
I also am a big fan of Martina McBride. I am an aspiring country music
singer and she is one of my role models. I went to Nashville in August of
1995 and sang for a record producer. He liked my style and my big "country
music" hair. :) Anyway, I have since received several tapes of unrecorded
songs from him and am choosing some to go back to Nashville and record as my
own. It will cost about $3,000.00 to do it so I'm still in the process of
saving up the money to go back.
The digest is great!! I'm enjoying all of your entries and information on
Martina and yourselves. If anyone hears of her coming to Oregon anytime
soon, please e-mail me and let me know. My e-mail address (incase you didn't
get it from above) is: [email protected]
I would love to hear from any of you at any time. It's fun to talk to people
with a common interest like Martina McBride. I sang "All The Things We've
Never Done" at my grandparents 50th Wedding Anniversary party and they loved
it! I thought it was the perfect song for them.
Martina is one of the few artists whose sound is true and clear and she sings
with such feeling. It's like she gets into your soul and you can really feel
what she is singing about. My other favorites include Reba McEntire, Faith
Hill, Bryan White, Collin Raye and Paul Brant just to name a few.
Well, now that I have written a novel, I will close. Keep those entries
coming and it's a pleasure being associated with people who enjoy Martina
McBride.

Hey everybody...
We have got to get Swinging Doors moving up the charts faster than it
is...I have been calling my radio stations at least 4 times a day
requesting Swinging Doors..every time I hear a new DJ come on at shift
change I call and they usually get it on right away. One DJ told me that
he is VERY surprised that this single is not moving faster..he said it is a
very friendly radio song but yet no one hardly calls and requests it. SO
PLEASE TAKE 5 MINUTES OUT OF YOUR DAY AND CALL!!!!!!!!!! Even if you are
not going to be around to listen to the radio still call..so they get the
requests and can post that.
Your friend,
Rachel

I am looking for a copy of the music video called " Independence Day"
by Martina McBride. This will be used for Domestic Violence Education.
Where can I obtain a copy of this music video?
Thank You
Sandy

(Good question! I will ask Martina and crew personally
about access to the video. My guess would be to
contact
her record label. I am sure Martina will be thrilled
that her song is being used to educate people about the
domestic violence issue! I'll let you know what I find
out about getting the video. -Darren)

Darren,
First of all, great job on the web page. I'm a computer science major
at Michigan State University, and I actually work on the computer science
department's web pages, so I know a little bit about html and such.
Martina's homepage looks great. Keep up the good work.
What I wanted to e-mail you about is Martina's tour schedule. I don't
know if you have your own source or want our input on her tour dates, but
here's my two scents anyway. My friend informed me of a Martina concert in
December. Here's the info I received:
Martina McBride and Collin Raye
Firday, December 13, 1996
Wings Stadium, Kalamazoo, MI
Tickets: $20 (through ticketmaster)
I guess she heard it announced on the radio. You might want to check it
out for yourself before you post anything though.
Just thought I'd let you know. You might even want to come. Kalamazoo
is not very far from Chicago. If you come, I may even introduce myself.
It'd be nice to meet the man in charge of Martina's homepage in person.
Talk to you later.
David Ennis
[email protected]
(Thanks for the date! I'll check it out and
add it to the web page. My main sources,
besides
checking Pollstar and Ticketmaster every
week is
you! I rely on everyone to let me know
what they
hear about shows, or tv appearances or
whatever.
Again, thanks for letting me know!
I'd love to make the Kalamazoo show, it is a
possibility at that!

Hi to you all,
I saw on TNN Country News that Martina is featured in the Holiday issue of
Twang Magazine. She is on the cover. No stores around here have that
magazine so I am asking if anyone could get one for me. I will gladly pay
for it. I would surely appreciate it!!!
Thanks so much,
Cindy

Hi everyone!!
I just wanted to drop y'all a line and introduce myself. My name is
Tammie, I am 23 years old, and I live in California. I absolutely
adore Martina and I am fully addicted to her music. I've been a fan
for about three years now. The first time I saw her in concert was
back in December of 1993 and I was so impressed with her. At the
time, I wasn't really into country music *that* much...but after
getting my first dose of Martina live...things started changing quite
rapidly!
Since 1993, I've seen Martina in concert six more times and I've met
her that many times as well. The first time I met her was briefly
when she did a show in CA in October 94. It was actually just pure
luck. I waited by her bus and she was so sweet to me! WOW! I knew
from that moment on I was a fan for life!!!
After that brief meeting, I joined the fan club and that's been
really great. I think the fan club is amazing and Liz is just
totally fabulous. As for seeing Martina perform, I try to attend to
as many shows as I can in California. I went to FanFest in L.A. to
see her back in 1995 and also caught her show in Concord CA in August
95.
I must say though, 1996 has definitely been the best year for seeing
M (I always call her that!). In May of this year she played in San
Jose, CA and that was absolutely incredible. In June, I saw her in
Angels Camp, California (where M put on one awsome show, despite the
100+ degree weather!), and most recently was in September in
Kelseyville, CA. The show in Kelseyville really stands out in my mind
because of some really special things that happend during that show
(and after). Basically, Martina just went out of her way to make two
fans very happy. I already had so much respect for her, but after
that night, she just went off the charts in my eyes. She is a very
unique person and has so many amazing qualities about her. If you're
reading this Martina, thank you for everything and I love you!
1996 started out great with Martina and it's going to end great with
her too. I'm seeing Martina (yet again!) in Las Vegas on December
6th and 7th. I am really looking forward to that!!!
I realize this is becoming quite lengthy, but there is just one more
thing I would like to say. It's not only Martina that I love, it's
the entire road crew. Every show I go to, the whole gang is just
incredible. They are are so cool and nice. There's never any kind
of pressure to hurry or rush. Things are so mellow. I love that!
Mark is absolutely amazing and just an all around GREAT guy!!! I
love getting the chance to chat with him! And Martina's "merchandise
man" Moose is the best!!! The band? What words can describe them?!?
They're unbelievable!!!
To all of you reading this who have had the chance to see Martina,
I'm sure you know exactly where I'm coming from! To those of you who
haven't had the chance yet, you're going to have the time of your
life! There really aren't words to describe how amazing Martina
McBride really is. You have to see her perform LIVE...then watch
your life change.
If I got a little carried away here, I apologize. It's just when I
start taking about M, I can go on..and on. Take care everyone and
feel free to email me anytime!
Tammie in California
Too [email protected] OR [email protected]
(Hey Tammie! Just one comment about the
first time you met Martina out be
her bus.
Me too! I had the same impression
of her,
and I've never met an artist that
is nicer &
more accomidating to her fans. A
lot of
artists don't want to give their
fans the time
of day, but I guess that's why I
put up a
Martina McBride web page!

Hope you have a grand time in Chicago-Whiskey River with Martina on
Hallowe'en-what a concept!
I'll be catching her the next 2 nights in MN-I'd have loved to put the
Madison, Chicago and Red Wing shows together, but work is the curse of the
leisure class, no?
A suggestion (this should probably be done through the web page-excellent
work, by the way)-I also belong to a list for Cowboy Junkies, and they will
list fans' concert reviews on the web page-set lists, clothing, venues,
opinions, stories whatever. It adds a personal touch, without spoiling the
upcoming shows, if you choose not to read them.

Darren,
Greetings from Boston! This morning's e-mail contained the messages from you
about the Martina McBride date in Chicago this Thursday.
Since I once lived in the area, I am taking two days off from work and flying
out there on Thursday for the express purpose of seeing Martina McBride at
Whiskey River. I figure that this could be my one opportunity to see her in
an intimate venue before she becomes a stadium staple. I already called ahead
and reserved a ticket for the Illinois Women's League benefit. I hope that I
will have the opportunity to meet Ms. McBride.
Will you be at that event? If there's a contest for "furthest distance
travelled" to see that particular show, please enter my name!
Thanks,
Bill Valeff
[email protected]
(Hey Bill, I wasn't holding a contest, but I would guess
you would win if we did! I look forward to seeing
you, and
I'm sure you'll get to meet Martina! -Darren)
