Martina McBride Internet Digest for Friday November 14, 1996
------------------------------------------------------------

Hello everyone!

Our membership list continues to grow again this week, we are now
270 members strong! More importantly we have added one very special member
that many of you may know. Liz Beavers, Martina's fan club president is now
on-line with us! I would like to extend a very warm welcome to Liz, and I
hope that she will enjoy reading the digests, as well as give us the "inside
scoop" on what is happening with the fan club and with Martina.

Liz has asked me to let everyone know that they may reach her by
sending e-mail to her at: [email protected]

Liz said that you may also send any e-mail that you want sent to
Martina, and not shared with the Digest at that address and she would
forward it to Martina. Thank you for providing this service, Liz, I just
hope you like to receive a LOT of EMAIL!

I also have passed on the requests of many fans here to get pictures
of the merchandise that is available to be ordered. We will be working on
that and get it on-line as soon as we can.

Liz also passed on this info to me:

Martina will perform on the Opry this Saturday night--tickets still
available. Also upcoming on TNN: "Alabama Christmas Greeting" with guests
Martina McBride, Mindy McCready, and Aaron Tippon--December 11, December 19
at 8pm eastern.
"Martina McBride: Full Speed Ahead" January 15, 1997, 10pm eastern
"Loretta Lynn & Friends" with Martina McBride, February 4, 1997 at 8pm
eastern
"The Road" with Martina McBride, February 26 at 10pm eastern.

A big thank you Liz! The full speed ahead show is great! Mark your
calanders for that one!

I've gotten a lot of submissions, so I do not want to go on too long
here. I thank everyone who gave me their opinion on the framed version of
the page. I will work to incorperate both versions so that everyone can
choose which version they prefer.

        On to the submissions!

Greetings Martina Fans!

Isn't it great to be a Martina McBride Fan? To idolize someone with
such talent, beauty, personality, friendliness, kindness, and an
appreciation for her fans, I could go on forever singing the praises of
Martina. Anyway, y'all get the point. Thank you Darren for setting up a
home page dedicated to Martina! And also this way to communicate to
Martina and her Fans.

I was introduced to Martina I think in 1993 by TNN. It was those blue
eyes that got me hooked. She was at the WV State Fair in 1995 and I
couldn't go. I've been kicking myself ever since even though I've seen her
in concert twice this year. I finally got to see her at the Sternwheel
Regatta in Charleston. It was a great show that had great audience
participation. One problem, I was not in the fan club at the time so I
didn't get to meet her. Bummer! But I did get some great photos! I was 8
to 10 feet from the stage (the chain link fence and security guards
prevented me from getting closer). Not to fear, there was news that she
was coming to Beckley. Another great show and more photos. I was able to work
my way up the middle aisle and sit on the floor, once again, 8 to 10 feet
away ( I 'm sending some photos to Darren to put on his home page). I got
to meet her this time! I was almost speechless. She signed a couple of
pictures and graciously posed for a photo with me. If I had knew about it
earlier, I would have went to her show in Roanoke earlier that week. If I
could, I would love to go to the Kalamazoo show but that's a little bit to
far for me. Why this show? December 13th is my birthday.

Recently I had the chance to put all the videotape I have of Martina
on one tape (almost four hours). I'm talking about music videos, award shows,
special appearences, Grand Ole Opry shows, and The Road (thanks Darren, I
missed the 8pm show but caught the replay at 2 am). I don't have
everything, I would like to have more Opry performances (I have the 70th
anniversary, and the two recent shows, one with Garth and the other with
Faith) and the 4th week of the CMT showcase series (I don't have CMT so I
had someone to record it for me. He disappeared that last weekend.) If
anyone has it, some Opry performaces, pre-1994, and her Baywatch
appearence(?). Please contact me and maybe we could do some swapping.

If there are some of you that haven't that hasn't had the pleasure to
see and hear Martina in concert, where have you been? Get your hands on
Farm Aid '96. She does "Wild Angels", "Safe in the Arms of Love", and
"Independence Day". Just a taste of her show.

Some of you were talking about her a Halloween performance where she
always starts out "Independence Day" a cappella. If you haven't already
done so, go out and get "Mother & Child". She sings "O Holy Night" first a
cappella then with accompaniment. Turn it up and prepare to have your mind
blown away (not to mention your ears and some windows)!

If anyone can't find a copy of TWANG, tell me. There's a few floating
around my area.

Sorry this is so long but this is my first time submitting to the
digest. Thanks for being patient.

Jimmy Hinkle

(Thanks for the post Jimmy! I agree, you don't know the
true extent of Martina's talent until you see her live.
                                                                  -Darren)

Come on guys...Martina's new single "Swinging Doors" was #38 on the
billboard charts last week and now it has fallen out of the top 40 again
and is like #48 or something like that. The one radio station here that
used to play it said that they have now removed it from their play list as
no one else was calling for it. WE ALL NEED TO CALL AND REQUEST THIS GREAT
SONG...even if they tell you it's not on their play list keep bugging them
with every shift change of DJ's they are bound to get sick of us and add
it. Maybe Martina's label isn't doing a good enough job promoting this one
(that is what the DJ here said anyway..he personally loves the song he
said). After a #1 hit with "Wild Angels" and a strong top 5 hit with "Safe
in the Arms of Love" it is very disappointing to me to see "Phones are
Ringing..." not do well on the charts and now "Swinging Doors"...we have to
do something to help her out with this song.

(I second that motion, Rachel! Call those stations! My new
friend Mylan Olsen and I discussed an apparent lack of
promotion
from the record label before the Halloween show here in Chicago
All we can do is keep those phones ringing all over town

Hi everyone!!
Wow!! I went to Martina McBride's concert in Salina Kansas last Saturday
night. It was my second concert of hers in the last year and it was
great. I love her live shows. The real reason that I am writing is that
I really want to get a hold of a copy or the CD of Martina's 'Live at the
Crazy Horse.' I have tried in all of my local stores and no one can find
it for me. If someone would be willing to either copy their CD for me or
send me a CD, that would be great. Please write to me at [email protected] if
you are interested and we can work out the details. Thanks! Hey Darren
you are doing a wonderful job, both with the digest and with the page on
the web! Angie

(Hi Angie! The actual disc of the Crazy Horse show seems to be
hard to find right now. I will keep my eyes open for one. In
the mean time, I would be happy to make you a copy. If anyone
else is interested, let me know and maybe we could work out a
tape tree so everyone could get a copy. -Darren)

About the album Mother and Child, on which Martina sings O Holy Night:
I just received a promo mailing from Sparrow Records which indicates
that you can get $4 off the purchase of Mother and Child if you
purchase new Christmas CDs by either Steve Green or Philips Craig &
Dean. You can also purchase the CD by itself of course for no
discount. Since this press release came from Sparrow, religious
bookstores might be a good place to look for these CDs- it appears
they are stocking them up for the holiday season.

Hello to all of you,

Martina is going to be on TNN on the Backstage Live and the Grand Ole Opry on
Saturday Night. It is 6:00 to 7:00 Central time.

Also do any of you know anything about Deryl Dodd, I kind of like his new
song and all I know about him is he played in Martina's band.

Thank you,
Cindy

        (thanks for the info, Cindy!)
