Subject: Martina's New Single

Hi Darren!

RCA is really going to push the new single "Cry On The Shoulder Of The Road",
so could you please post this to the digest: I would like comments on "Cry
On The Shoulder Of The Road" from her fans. Quotes from this input will be
used in a promo packet that RCA is going to send out when the single is
released. We need some really great and favorable response for M's new
single. At this point, the release date is December 9, but that could always
change. Martina is also planning to release a video for "Cry On The Shoulder
Of The Road".

Martina will appear on Prime Time Country, Thursday, Dec. 12.

That's all the news for now!

Liz

(Thanks for the news, Liz! Everyone can e-mail their comments on
"Cry on the Shoulder of the Road" to Liz at [email protected]
Liz, how about including the home page address in the press kits?
                                                                   -Darren )

On to the other submissions...

Re: the Crazy Horse CD-I'm not sure this is the same one under discussion,
but I ordered a CD through the Internet from CD Magic (or whatever name
they are currently using)( http://www.cdmagic.com) called 'Greeting From the
Wild Wild West' subtitled 'Live from the Crazy Horse in Santa Ana
California'. It came from Germany without the crystal case (for weight) and
with a single page CD liner with a really ugly generic cover painting on the
front and a track listing on the reverse. It does have 3 unreleased tracks,
'True Love Never Dies' Your Cheatin' Heart' and 'I Hear You Knockin'.

(Thanks for the info, Foster. The copy that CD Magic has is the
bootleg version of the radio show. And, as Liz explains below,
Martina and her band receive nothing for the sale of bootlegs or
radio shows. Always use your best judgement when buying bootleg
         discs. -Darren)

Darren,

Just wanted to let you know the scoop on "Live at the Crazy Horse". I talked
to Martina yesterday about it, so this is straight from her.

"Live at the Crazy Horse" is indeed a "bootleg" CD. Martina did not
authorize its sale, nor does she really like the recording very much. Here's
what happened. Martina and her band performed there about 4 years ago and
Westwood One Radio Network recorded it for syndication to radio stations all
over the U.S. and world. After it was aired, the radio stations' deejays
either kept it (which is fine), trashed it (which is fine) or maybe gave it
to a friend (which is fine). But here's where it gets fishy. As you know,
people can get ahold of anything if they really try. Some of these friends
could take it to a second-hand record shop and sell it, or they could sell it
to a radio show dealer. (Isn't that who you bought yours from?) These people
advertise in magazines, on the Internet, etc and sell these CD's for 100%
profit. Nothing ever gets back to M. So you see, those recordings, whether
it's "Live at the Crazy Horse" or any type of national countdown, etc., are
never meant for retail sale. They were meant for radio airplay only. Just
like Acoustic Country. Martina has a copy of that performance on CD that
Westwood One sent to her, but it's not a CD that's available to the general
public to buy. If so, Martina would be getting royalties off these
recordings, and she's not. So now you know the real scoop!! I know all of
Martina's fans would not want to spend a lot of money on a CD that is not
even authorized for sale by Martina. From what I understand, the "Live at
the Crazy Horse" CD was selling for almost $30!!! Anyway, enough of that.

Wanted you to know that beginning Friday, November 22, I will not be able to
retrieve or answer any e-mail for about a week. I am taking my computer in
to have some stuff worked on, etc. So, if anyone e-mails me during that
week, I won't be able to read it or answer it until the beginning of
December. But after that, everything will be back to normal.

Well, gotta go!
Liz

Subject: Martina Desktop Theme

Has anybody ever thought about constructing a Martina McBride desktop
theme? With all of the pictures and wonderful sound clips out there it
seems that a theme would be fairly easy to make... I've never done that
kind of stuff before - maybe another Martina fan knows how? I know that
it requires Microsoft Plus! or a comparable software package, but that's
the extent of my knowledge. I've got a great Garth Brooks theme on my
computer right now - the background is a picture of the Garthman and
various sound clips of Garth songs are incorporated into basic actions
such as opening menus, maximizing windows, emptying the recycle bin,
etc. Anyway... if you know anything I'd love to hear about it!

P.S. The web site is great and I really like receiving the internet
digest! Keep up the good work!

Just wanted to let you know what a super job you're doing with the Digest.
It's great just to sit back and hear from so many MM fans. I'll be a
subscriber for a long time to come. Also, as I was flipping channels one
night, I came upon an episode of "Baywatch" that featured Martina and Ricky
Van Shelton. I found it as Martina was performing "Life #9" in some club
that all the lifeguards were attending (or some plotline similar to that).
Do you know anything about that?

Until the next Digest,
