Martina McBride Internet Digest for Sunday December 15th, 1996.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Hello everyone, and welcome to yet another MMID. There are a few
things that I want to let everyone know before we get to the submissions.
The first is that you can now listen to "Martina McBride From the
Vaults" a RealAudio program dedicated to Martina that I put together. This
first program contains the latest Martina news as well as a live song clip
that you would have to be "Crazy" to miss!
So, download the RealAudio program if you don't have it yet, and
take a listen to "From The Vaults" (you can find a link from the home page!)
Secondly, since there is always a good amount of news on Martina
I have created a news page on the web site. You can find a link off the
home page, so please take a look at it and let me know what you think!
I do need to get some submissions for that page also, so if any
of you are interested, let me know by sending me some e-mail!
Now, on to the submissions...

Hi Darren and Martina Fans:
I just returned from Las Vegas where Martina performed at the Desert Inn,
Friday 12/6 to Sunday 12/8/96. I attended the Friday and Saturday's show ,
so I will report the activities of these nights. Martina's performance was
dynamite as she sang 17 songs each night. On Friday, Martina wore a tight
brown pants suit as she opened the weekend with my favorite Wild Angels. The
crowd favoirte, noticed by the overwhelming applause was Crazy. She got the
audience singing the chorus to My Baby Loves Me. After intoroducing the
band, she got everyone into the Christmas spirit as she sang White Christmas.
"Thanks for believing in this song" replied Martina as the audience gave her
a standing ovation after performing Independence Day. For encore, Martina
returned to the stage wearing the famous 'Independence Day' glittering outfit
she wore on TNN awards show. BTW, she looked GREAT! That Wasn't Me was
accompanied by Jim Medlin followed by an outstanding accoustic O Holy Night
for a double encore. This song is recored on Mother and Child, a collection
of Christmas songs released in 1995.
I enjoyed the show, especially when I had a great seat, upfront near the
middle. Yes, get to know your Matri D. At the meet-n-greet, I had Martina
autograph the Holiday issue of Twang and the two CW cover issues. If you
don't have your copy of Twang now, my advise is start looking for it now,
before you start your Christmas shopping. Besides meeting Martina, the
meet-n-greet is great place to get acquainted w/other Martina fans. I met
two fans that lives a mile from where I live as well as Tammie, a regular on
aol BB. Jim Skelding, thanks for chatting w/us and keep on smiling.
Saturday's song list was identical, except Wild Angels and Two More Bottles
of Wine were swapped. Her wardrobe for the evening was a black pantsuit
w/jacket. The audience was alittle roudier than Friday and Martina seemed
more relaxed as she talked to the audience quite frequently. I can't wait
for her next Western visit for I will be there.
Here are the song list for Friday:
1. Wild Angels
2. Life #9
3. The Time Has Come
4. Phones Are Ringin All Over Town
5. Swingin Doors
6. She Ain't Seen Nothin Yet
7. Crazy
8. Safe In The Arm Of Love
9. My Baby Loves Me
10. When Will I Be Loved
11. Cry On The Shoulder of The Road
Intro the band
12. White Christmas
13. Blue Moon Of Kentucky
14. Two More Bottles Of Wine
15. Independence Day
Encore
16. That Wasn't Me

Merry Christmas,
Joe

Hi Everyone,
I am pleased to see that "Cry On The Shoulder of the Road" was
released Monday. I know that it will be a big successs both in Canada and
the US. I am from Canada myself and know that most of my friends could not
wait for this day to come.
I would like to communicate via e-mail with any teenage Martina fans
as well. If you are between the ages of 15-18, you can write me at:
[email protected]
Is it possible for Martina to write to me via e-mail? If so, it
would be greatly appreciated. This would be really good for both her and
her fans to get to know each other better.
Give my best to Martina and her wonderful family. Thank You!
Your #1 Canadian Fan,
Stephen Locke!
(Hi Stephen, at this time Martina does not have the ability to send
e-mail, although she does receive these digests! -Darren)

Hi, all:
Just got Suzy Bogguss' newsletter (yes, there is more than one lady in my
life). There is a short note that 'Suzy made a scheduled stop by Emerald
Studios in Nashville recently to guest appear on gal-pal Martina McBride's
syndicated radio program, Martina McBride and Friends. The live broadcast
was heard by 175 country stations throughout the US.
First I heard of this, although that is not unusual. Any happen to have run
across this broadcast?

You might want to mention that Martina's albums make excellent Christmas
gifts. I plan on giving a couple out this year.

(Hey everyone, Jimmy is right! Buy a lot of Martina cd's and
cassettes for Christmas presents!! I don't know why I didn't
think of that sooner... -Darren)

Saw you in Manchester, England earlier this year, really enjoyed the
show, when are you coming again?...(so I can book some tickets). Would
love to join your fan club, but whats the price in Sterling?
Keep up the good work & superb albums and hopefully see you again soon.

Hi everyone! I was lucky enough to see Martina in Vegas last weekend
and I thought I'd share the experience with y'all. If you're on AOL,
you prolly read this in M's folder! If not, enjoy!
I went to the shows on Friday and Saturday night. I was lucky enough
to get right up front both nights, which always makes the show a
little more special. The shows were basically the same, but they
were totally different. Putting it into words is rather difficult,
but no two Martina shows are the same no matter what! Each night
there are different things said, expressions made, audience activity,
ect. The songs may be alike, but the show is different! It's amazing.
The show ran about seventy minutes or around there. M sang seventeen
songs I believe. Wanna know what they were? Okay! Okay! These are
not in any particular order:
Wild Angels, Life # 9, Phones Are Ringing All Over Town (the most
amazing piano ever!), The Time Has Come, Swingin Doors (the video in
which her grandma made her "video debut"), My Baby Loves Me,
Independence Day, Safe In The Arms of Love, Two More Bottles of Wine,
Cry On The Shoulder of the Road, That Wasn't Me, She Ain't Seen
Nothin Yet, Blue Moon Of Kentucky, When Will I Be Loved, Crazy, White
Christmas (the best!!! Her voice sounded *So sweet* here!), and
closed both nights with "Oh Holy Night" (more on the Xmas songs in a
minute).
Just a few comments of a couple songs: She told us that she had just
finished filming the "Cry On The Shoulder of the Road" video. Awsome,
eh??? Can't wait! But there was a story behind it and the way M
told it was too cute. She said that they just filmed the video, "In
the desert.<pause> At Night.<pause> Twenty Eight Degrees.<pause> I
froze my butt off.<pause> Yes, that is what happened to it." LOL
Martina! She's too cute! I LOVE when she sings Blue Moon Of
Kentucky. That ROCKS!!!!! I think she slowed it down a little
though, she sang it faster when she was on the Opry. I love it
either way! What a SONG!!!!!
I am really glad Martina has put "That Wasn't Me" back into her show.
It's an amazing song. For this song (it was after the encore), she
came out in a beautiful sequin gown (which she wore at the TNN awards
in 95 when she opened with "Independence Day"). She looked gorgeous
and said, "Now I know how Reba feels". She couldn't believe she
pulled of changing that fast! LOL! Anyhow, she started singing "That
Wasn't Me" and it was only her beautiful voice and the piano. The
song can move you, this song literally reaches into your soul when
she sings it. The expressions on her face are so convincing and
honest. She's truly singing from her heart. She closed the show
both nights with "Oh Holy Night". This was a real treat to hear. I
sat there in awe just watching her. For this song, she sang it
completely acoustic. There was no one on the stage but her and no
music at all going. Just little Martina and that big powerful voice.
In my eyes, there is no one who can even touch on the emotion and
the power that comes from within her. She's an artist that you
truly have to see live to really understand. She sounds amazing on
television, but when she's standing right in front of you and that
voice just comes out without what appears to be any effort, you're
left speechless. I watched the audience and one night I saw a lady
watching her, shaking her head back and forth. She was in total
disbelief at that voice that was coming out of Martina. Seeing
Martina live will definitely impact your life. Trying to find words
to describe it is nearly impossible. She is the true essence of
country music.
As always the meet and greets were great! She had a big turnout of
fan club members on both nights. It was really cool. The time I
spent with Martina is quite cherished, she's the most sincere person
I've ever met. Her sweetness constantly amazes me and she always
impresses me more each time I see her. I did ask her if she was
taking some time off and she said yes. I was actually happy to hear
that because she's been on the go for so long. She definitely
deserves to kick back at home with John and Delaney and just relax.
I'll miss her tho!! All in all, it was an incredible weekend. The
only true regret that I have was being *too shy* to give Marty a red
rose I bought for him. Maybe next time! :-) Anyhow, it was the
perfect way to bring 1996 to a close. Thanks M!
On a different subject, I hope everyone is calling up and requesting
"Cry On The Shoulder of The Road". This song is a masterpiece!
Let's make this Martina's second number one! I truly believe with
the effort of all of us, we can make a difference!
One more note: I'm trying to estabish a weekly Martina chat on AOL.
If you're a part of AOL and want to know more about it
(day/time/private room), feel free to email me at any time. Please
use either one of these addys: Too [email protected] or TaMartina@Aol.
Com. I look forward to hearing from ya! Take care everyone!
