MARTINA ONCE AGAIN SUPPORTS THE "PINK RIBBON CHALLENGE"

DALLAS - More than a dozen musicians and over a thousand radio outlets have joined the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) to promote the third annual Pink Ribbon Challenge.

This unique fundraising effort runs October 1-31 at www.thebreastcancersite.com and helps provide free mammograms for underserved and uninsured women. Over 500 women benefited from last year's campaign and organizers believe this year's Challenge could bring the gift of early detection to 750 or more.

To help reach that goal, musicians such as Ann and Nancy Wilson of Heart, Martina McBride and many others are voicing public service announcements urging listeners to take the Challenge and provide a valuable service to the nation's minority, low-income, homeless and working-poor women.

Their voices will go out across the country through a nationwide radio campaign supported by broadcasting heavyweights TM Century and Westwood One. Syndicated shows such as Crook & Chase, Bob & Sheri, Chick Chat, Young & Verna and Jim Brickman have also pledged their support along with nearly 100 radio stations that will play host to the month-long campaign.

The Pink Ribbon Challenge is unlike any other fundraising effort. Completely free and "click-driven," the campaign works through daily fan participation. Pledging is easy; listeners simply visit their favorite radio station's website each day and click on the Pink Ribbon Challenge banner. That banner links to The Breast Cancer Site where a second click on the "Fund Free Mammograms" button translates into monetary contributions from corporate sponsors. Listeners can click once a day, 365 days a year.

Founded in 1991, the NBCF is a nonprofit, charitable foundation that provides funding for mammography and early detection programs nationwide. The Foundation also funds breast cancer research, though its main focus is on saving lives through early detection, especially among women with little or no access to health care. Proceeds from the Pink Ribbon ChallengeSM fund mammography programs at hospitals, missions and mobile units across the country. For more information, please visit www.nationalbreastcancer.org.
