MARTINA IS THE TOP COUNTRY FEMALE TOURING ACT OF 2007
Posted on Friday, July 13, 2007

Nashville, TN (July 12, 2007) - Country music superstar Martina McBride has been the 2007 top female touring act of any genre (Pollstar) for many weeks and is currently second only to Gwen Stefani. McBride strongly represents the country genre as one of the Top 5 touring acts, following only Kenny Chesney, The Rowdy Frynds Tour (Hank Williams Jr. and Lynyrd Skynyrd), and Brad Paisley.

"It was great when I heard I was the only female touring act in the Top 10," says McBride. "But being in the company of Gwen Stefani isn't the worst thing that could happen! We really went all out with this tour and I'm excited about how it has been received."

The success of McBride's tour is no surprise for industry execs, radio programmers and music critics who have followed the steady rise of her illustrious 15-year career.

"Martina is so deserving of being recognized as one of the top touring acts," says Creative Artist Agency's Rod Essig. "The fact that she is one of two top female touring acts this year is no surprise to me. She is one of the best entertainers in any genre now and deserves all of the respect that comes with this honor. "

Lon Helton of Country Aircheck writes, "Martina McBride showed a Cedar Falls, IA crowd last Thursday night that she's elbowing Chesney, McGraw, Urban, Reba, et al, for a spot at this format's top entertainers' table. We've all known for a long time that Martina has one of the best voices in the business. She brings down the house with as much passion and emotion as I've heard any artist bring to a song. She now works the stage and the crowd as well as anyone and has joined the ranks of this format's top entertainers.

"Words can't describe. I've seen her 6 or 7 times over the years, but nothing like this...Some people stood outside the coliseum for an hour just talking about the show," praises WUSJ-FM program director Russ Williams.

"The First Lady of the Tyson Events Center returned to Sioux City Friday night and rallied the faithful with a show so big it barely fit in the building. The new Reba, she earned the tilting video screens, the revolving lights and the platform that lifted her to the stage. But, the truth be told, McBride is one of the very few who could entertain without the props, without the band and without the gimmicks." - Sioux City Journal

"McBride owned the stage from her first note, leaving the thousands of fans in attendance feeling like she was singing only to them." - Norfolk Daily News

"From one tune to another, McBride morphed from a honky-tonk queen, to a tough rocker to a pure-pop diva... When she leaps into her upper register and milks a note for every possible ounce of emotion - it's guaranteed to get a crowd on its feet." - Newsday

"The lady from Sharon, Kansas is one of the best singers in popular music. Several times she ignited long, loud and sincere cheers after showing off her considerable vocal skills - a notable feat in a place like Kemper Arena." -Kansas City Times

McBride released her ninth studio album Waking Up Laughing in April and is currently headlining her national arena tour which sold out New York's Radio City Music Hall as well as other venues across the country including Chicago, Atlanta, Uncasville and Lowell.
