MARTINA WILL HELP LIGHT UP THE NIGHT FOR NBC'S 'CHRISTMAS IN ROCKEFELLER CENTER' Posted on Sunday, November 5, 2006
NBC lights up the night on Wednesday, November 29 (8-9 p.m. ET/PT) with an incredible array of musical performances and the lighting of the world's most famous Christmas tree during the 9th annual "Christmas in Rockefeller Center" telecast. Hosted by Al Roker and Ann Curry, the star-studded 74th annual tree lighting extravaganza will feature Martina McBride, along with Christina Aguilera, Sting, Bette Midler, Lionel Richie, Sarah McLachlan, Enya, John Legend, and Taylor Hicks performing current hits and holiday favorites from Rockefeller Center in New York City.
The special will include the artists' powerful performances from beautifully decorated stages located on either side of the majestic tree. As previously announced, NBC Universal and Target stores are partnering for the fourth consecutive year to bring fans the "Sounds of the Season" CD collection, featuring superstar artists singing classic, holiday-themed tracks. Hitmakers Martina McBride, John Legend, Lionel Richie, and Enya, among others, contributed to the CD collection.
Martina will perform "Come all Ye Faithful" and "Let It Snow" from her White Christmas album.
Martina McBride's powerhouse voice has earned her more than 16 million in album sales, garnered six No.1 hits; 20 Top 10 singles and a mantle of honors, including a record tying four CMA Female Vocalist of the Year trophies. She is nominated again this year and will perform her upcoming single "Anyway" on the Country Music Awards Monday, November 6 (8-7p.m. ET-CT). Her fiery, passionate vocals have created such signature hits as "Independence Day,""Wild Angels," "A Broken Wing," "Blessed" and "This One's for the Girls." These songs along with hits such as "Concrete Angel," "Love's The Only House" and "God's Will" have become not only memorable musical statements, but resounding social commentaries as well. The multi-platinum country star's 8th studio album,"Timeless," debuted at Number one this year and was quickly certified platinum. Martina's new album will be released Spring 2007.
