Hey! This may be old news, but I was just wondering if any of you have Katharine McPhee's album. If so, is it any good? Can you give your own review of it? I'm thinking of getting it and I want to know the consensus! Thanks a bunch!

I've heard the entire cd and i dont like it much.

The songs are pure pop. And what I mean by that is that they say/mean absolutely nothing. Reminds me a lot of Gwen Stefani's songs.

She can sing, but that album was meaningless crap. It wasn't worth my $12. It flopped for good reason.

I wouldn't buy it after hearing her single on the radio. FLUFF....in the true sense of the word.

I am probably Martinaville's biggest Kat fan, but even I have to admit that I was VERY disappointed with her debut CD. There are a few songs that I like, but overall the CD wasn't what I was expecting. This girl actually has a great voice and a LOT of potential, but unfortunately that didn't show in her CD. A lot of the songs are dance/pop, which I don't like too much. Kinda sounds like Christina Aguillera singing lead for the Pussycat Dolls.

ps: IMO, based on the debut CDs of the AI5 contestants, Chris Daughtry should have won American Idol 5 last year. There isn't a bad song on his CD.

I don't know. I bought Chris Daughtry's CD when it came out because I remember liking that American Idol had a rocker that year, but I was rather disappointed with his album. On my first listen I didn't even finish it and turned it off about halfway through before finally finishing it a few days later. I thought it was just really bland and sounded like every other current rock band with a deep-voiced singer trying to sound important. In other words, it could have just as easily been a Nickelback or Creed album.

Of course, they don't "say/mean absolutely nothing" JUST because their pop. There's plenty of pop out there that can say/mean something. But in regards to Katherine McPhee's music, yes, it's pretty fluffy.

IMO, that's not necessarily a bad thing.

Unfortunately, this is exactly the kind of album Kat said she was hoping to make. I think she can do a LOT better than this. I'd much rather hear the songs she performed during last year's AI5 competition, especially during the first half of the season, when she was at her best. I never thought she'd be just another Dance/Pop Princess.

I think that's the reason I like Daughtry so much is because they remind me a Nickelback. I like it.

Heard Katharine's first single and i was like 'oh...' so I didn't even think of buying the cd.

There are 3 slower songs on Kat's CD that are actually OK. But all the other dance/pop songs annoy me enough to make me not want to listen to her CD anymore.

That is the best description of the CD! That's exactly what it sounds like! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

I wanted her to do more stuff like the soft performances she did on idol that that Horse and Cherry tree song and Somewhere under the Rainbow.

Not that Xtina singing with PCD would be a BAD thing....it's just not what I expected from Kat, especially after being blown away by several performances on AI last year. And I actually like some of Xtina's songs....just not the dance ones, lol.

If you liked Kat's versions of BHACT and SOTR, PM me your email addy. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

I have it. It's not good. At ALL.

With that said, I listen to it quite a bit. One of my biggest guilty pleasures. Open Toes is the best. Meaning it's a horrible song about... literally open toed shoes (and most of the guys I know don't like open toes. They hate toes period). But it has the most listens from me. LOL, "Open Toes" is the song on her CD that annoys me the MOST! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) I know I said I don't like dance/pop songs, but I actually like "Not UR Girl".

I'm not a big fan of Not UR Girl. I like Dangerous a bit, though!

Seriously, the best song is probably "Love Story". "Neglected" is good too, but I'm a little (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif) about the "How could you neglect me, straight up disrespect me" bit. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

"Neglected" is OK, but I like "Dangerous" a little more.

"Ordinary World" is my favorite slow track. It would've been "Better Off Alone", if she had sang it differently (hard to explain, but I think it would've sounded much better if she sang the chorus with more conviction, if that makes sense).

IMO, "Over It" wasn't a good choice for the first single.
