Anyone with the VIP Package who is interested in seeing what the background to the photograph looks like can go to my profile and look at my personal photo. Then you can laugh at the fact that I was so engrossed in trying to talk to Martina that she had to remind me to turn around for the photo, so I forgot to make sure that my laminate wasn't on backwards. (It was.) We were warned in advance to make sure that the laminate's front side with the pretty picture of Martina was facing the camera when our photo was taken. Instead, you can see the the back side of my laminate filled with lettering. Oh well. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

John,
It sounds like you want a summary of my M&G, so here goes. About 15 of us gathered at the back of the arena at 7:35 and were led down the white-washed cinder block hallways that you saw on CMT Insider into the room in which Katie Cook did her sit down interview with Martina. We formed into a horseshoe with me being at the top right, which would have put me in last place during the Nashville JOC M&G. For some reason the VIP staff remembered me. I don't know if that's why Martina's tour manager/photographer decided to start with me. Anyway, we were given instructions, and Martina entered the room to our cheers. I believe that she greeted us, and then I approached her with my right hand extended, saying "I'm Andrew." When she appeared not to recognize me, I added "the guy with the migraines," and she responded "Oh, yes." I gave her a card and the DVD The Queen, telling her that I included a gift receipt if she already had it. She said that she hadn't seen it. I then got her to sign my avatar photo from my November M&G and quickly pulled out my WUL CD insert and asked if she could just autograph it without saying "To Andrew." Because the official limit was one autograph, I wanted her to do as little writing as possible. Here comes the unique part. When I first met her, I told her about how my ex had kicked me out with the words "I married an attorney, not a cripple" when my migraines (mostly caused by her) made me disabled and how much Martina and her music had helped me to heal from this experience. This time I wanted to assure her that, by moving home with my parents, my health had gotten somewhat better, I had prevented my mother from having a major stroke, and I am helping with my father's Alzheimer's. Thus, I think that, in the long run, I am where God wants me to be. She listened patiently and nodded and then said something like "Okay, would you like to take a picture with me now?" My response? "Oh, I forgot!" I was actually more interested in getting my message across to her than in the photo, which is why I didn't even think to check to see if my laminate was facing the correct way. Somehow, I managed to compose myself for the photo. Because in my last M&G with Trisha Yearwood, I simply left without saying anything, this time I shook Martina's hand and I might have actually said "Break a leg." (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif) God, I hope not. So, that's the story of my second M&G with Martina. God bless her. Even though she was not as happy and full of Christmas cheer as in the first one, she was extremely kind to me. I can't wait for the third one. Andrew D. |
