Katrina Updates, here we go Options

I come back just a second on Notre Dame de Paris, I have found a bigger pic.
You can't see it, but just on the left is the oldest hospital in Paris, " Hôtel Dieu", even if it's an hospital, that I know very well ! it's quite possible to enter and visit it.

talking to katrina now, i gave her the msgs you all have sent and shes greatly appreciated& deeply touched--the doc(s) decided that if the surgery is going to be done around here, he is the only doc compitant to do such a risky compicated operation. this surgery could be a major life change and not for the good. if any more intestine is lost she will be on a feeding tube for life and we certainly dont want that.. this is were prayers are needed. if this surgeon does not feel confident enoug please pray that he has someone else in the country in mind and that it isnt that far but she is willing to go anywhere at this point. as is the family. with the holiday season coming and its her favorite time of year please pray that she is able to enjoy the season comfortably with her friends and family.. and not in the hospital. pray that she has nurses that are timely with her meds and given to her and she stays as comfy as possible.

shes been having a hard time sleeping, the doc prescribed a medication to help her sleep. please pray that the combination of her pain meds and this will help her get some sleep. as well as calm her nerves.. she is very anxious and in a lot of pain, not only from the area that needs surgery but her entire body. her doc had to come in at like ten at night because she had become very enemic. he is very puzzled as she just got iron and a mega dose for someone her size which should have lasted at least a few months. she is not blleding from anywhere so the doc is puzzled as to why her counts have not improved, if surgery is to done stronf blood counts are vital. because of this she might need a blood infusion. her endocrinologist was called in as there also appears to be a problem with her thyroid. thyroid medication may be needed. mutiple blood tests are pending.

the rheumatologist was also called in as the joint pain has become untolerable. due to fibromyalgia, arthritis osteoporosis and crohn's diesease. and has perscribed meds and treatments but doesnt want to get in the way of the GI docs and surgeons. she is scheduled to see an ortho doctor in a few weeks. because a bone scan that was done last month showed possiblity of a hip replacement in the future, it is also a major sugery therefore has been placed on the backburner. because you can ;live with a bad hip but not with a bowel obstruction. please pray for the docs wisdom is this sitituation as well.. once again she thanks everyone for there prayers and concerns and will return online to the board asap.

i will continue to relay updates as i talk to her each day.

I was wondering if there was an address where we can send get well cards directly to the hospital? I'd think we would only need a room number and her last name? (which might not be a great idea to post publicly).

I just got through on the phone with her, and she is such a sweetheart (this was the first time ive actually spoken to her)!!! She was very upbeat and she explained to me what had caused her obstruction(s) and basically what Stephanie had posted earlier... Dont send food to her please, b/c if she has the surgery, she wont be able to eat, but she is bored to tears, so music, books, stuff like that. She was getting her medication b/c her pain was coming back and wanted to try and head it off, plus she wanted to try and get some sleep!!!
