Unfortunately my mom passed away 30 years ago.......however my grown boys and their families are having my wife over for a big BBQ tomorrow - also my BDAY so that will be neat. But are we having a cold snap - raining today and the temps were only in the low 50's --- very wierd for this time of year......80's are expected on Monday.....

Well I'm working for 8 hrs today, but after work, the whole family + relatives are getting together for a traditional NFLD supper. So i'm really looking forward to that. That alone, will make my mom happy as can be. And then we're all driving out to an outport community to see the icebergs and have ice cream!! Probably sounds silly, but it's tradition!

Yesterday my sister and I went to Mom's to clean out the upstairs of our family home. We took her presents and spent time together going over memories and packing things away. Our Mother is moving to a nice little apartment close by us girls. Mom is in good health, doesn't drive and lives 20 miles away from any stores and doctors. My great-nephew is going to buy our family home to raise his family in, which is nice because he sort of grew up there with his great-grandma.

He and his lovely wife got married a year ago today. My sister who had cancer came back home for his wedding and she passed away just after Christmas. My great-nephews grandma (my other sis) passed away 24 years ago from cancer. Mother's day or other special days can be difficult for many, but is a day for memories. Tell your Mother Happy Mother's day and also any surrogate Mother's who have helped to make a difference in your life.

I am planting a Bluebird Rose of Sharon in my front yard today in memory of my sister who lived in KS and spending time with my family.

Well mom lives in a nursing home, but she's a two minute drive from me. Last night she had some flowers dropped off to her. We're planning a little lunch with her.I can't spoil mom two much with goodies. It was a little over two years ago my mom came from a hospital with a broken hip. Back then we had to make a decision to put a feeding tube in her or let her go. It was a struggle to get mom to eat at first, but now the staff at the nursing home were pointing out to me that she's enjoying the food a little too much!

I'll say it again here, mom really liked the Timeless material from the Soundstage show. It would be nice if a home DVD of that show was released.

Well I ended up getting her a lock-n-lock, a red towel for her kitchen (she wants a red kitchen), and a Chicken Soup book.

My mother has been gone for almost 25 years.

My dad, brother and I went to Asheville, NC for the day to spend some time with my Grandmother (dad's mom) and my aunt and uncle (dad's sister and brother-in-law). It was a nice time to visit since it was gorgeous outside. We went to a nice restaurant (forgot the dang name) downtown Asheville and ate outside on a balcony with a view overlooking the smokey mountains. It was beautiful. Grandma, as usual, was brought to tears when she was reading her Mother's Day cards. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) She's such a great woman... I can only hope to be half the woman she is someday.

In addition to giving my mom a hanging plant and a Yankee candle, I help my brothers and dad prepare a meal for 'the moms' in our family. I was in charge of a dessert, rolls, marinating and cooking the chicken. My dad cooked steaks and my brothers brought side dishes. We've done this for the past several years. It works out well. Heck, I even clean the table after dinner. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/cool.gif)

My sister, brothers and I took our mom out to breakfast Sunday morning, then we went to the movies. That evening we had a BBQ of her favorite meal (steak), then afterwards had some cake.
