QUOTE (TEEEEE! @ Sep 1 2007, 05:54 PM)
I gotta say I like your 2007 blast much, much, MUUUUUUCH better than the 2006 one!
I remember you posting about your tailgating adventure down at "The O.B." from last year. Matter of fact, after reading that I asked my friend from Jacksonville, F-L-A, who is a HUGE college football guy and goes all over the country watching games, about the neighborhood around The O.B. and he simply said............ "It is the WORST".
You get a total different impression of The O.B. if you have just seen it on TV. It looks so beautiful that you'd never think it was in a really bad neighborhood. I guess that is why the Cane's announcer said "You don't come down to The O.B. talking smack!". He was not kidding I see!
BTW, oyoukrissie is an Oklahoma fan. The "oyou" part of her name I am pretty sure stands for Oklahoma University which is where she goes to school.
But I'll show some Cane love with the following prediction for next week's EPIC early season matchup:
The U: 27
Honky Tonk University: 20
I may have just PO'd Krissie, Lori (Sis84) and Toby Keith with that predicition, but I really think the Canes are gonna be back sooner than later.
OK, I'm going to ignore your prediction and tell you that my SOONERS will prove you wrong next Sat. Tonight's game was awesome - even I didn't think we'd beat UNT that bad. It was a lot of fun, but the Miami one is the one I've been looking forward to so I can't wait to go to that. The first thing that truly helps us out is that the game is in Norman. I don't care how good your team is, this is a hard place to win (just ask an Alabama fan if they remember the Sooner Magic from a few years ago). Also, Sam Bradford had an amazing game tonight - which was paramount in order to give him confidence going into the Miami game. I mean 668 yrds of total offense, 408 yrds passing - and 363 of those were Bradford's and he barely even played in the second half. Also he went 21 of 23 for completions and broke the school record for passing yards in a half (with 350) and for number of completions in a row (with 18). It also only took him 32 seconds to get his first career touchdown pass. Now, don't get me wrong - I'm not saying Miami is going to be an easy game - far from it actually. Miami and Texas are the two toughest challenges on OU's schedule this year, and both should be extremely exciting games. I think the Miami one will be decided by less than a touchdown, but I do believe OU will come out on top. I think Bradford will continue to play well and Allen Patrick should be ready to go by next week (although DeMarco Murray did a great job tonight). And with Malcolm Kelley (who catches passes that you wouldn't think was possible) playing as well as ever - next Sat should be one heck of a game. BOOMER SOONER!!!

To think that I can't go to the Moline party/concert because I'm going to the Notre Dame game the week before. (IMG: http://martina-mcbride.com/martinaville/style_emoticons/default/wacko.gif) GA Tech 33 ND 3 Absolutely no ground game, 3 quarterbacks. Here's irony for you: ND's best running back last year was junior Darius Walker. Last spring he somehow got it into his head that he was good enough to play for the pros. So, he gave up his senior year and declared himself eligible for the draft. No team picked him. He signed as a free agent with the Houston Texans. It was announced in the newspaper yesterday, as his presence was being sorely missed in South Bend, that he had been cut by the Texans. God has a sense of humor.

Yeah outside of Michigan's historic meltdown, Notre Dame's horrific loss was the talk of the college football weekend. I was sorry to see that as I think ND being good is beneficial to college fb as a whole.
So it appears the Catholics are not back and we are going to see if the Convicts are this weekend. Although ND does have at least one convict.......the DE/DT who was arrested this Summer for................ "soliciting a skeezer".
WHAT?????????
I mean seriously, how does a player from a prominent D-1 program ever live THAT down.........if you know what I'm sayin'?
Wait! There is a scoring update coming across the news wire:
Dateline...... Norman, Oklahoma: The Sooners have scored AGAIN!
What was up with that? Was OU playing basketball? Did they break Wayman Tisdale out of mothballs and he dropped 50 on NTU? Did Mookie Blaylock get loose for 25 assists or something? Geez!
So in light of OU's offensive fireworks this weekend I must now update my prediction.
THE U: 73
Honky Tonk University: 70
The U is not going to let Way-Tiz get loose for 50 like NTU did. No way.......no how!

Yes...ND did have quite the meltdown. Which I must say I find quite funny. I am not a Notre Dame fan and several of my best guy friends went to play football at Tech so that put them all in great moods Saturday night!! I wasn't expecting such a big win by Tech but I guess it was nice. I just always think ND is very overrated.
Auburn almost found themselves with a big loss to start off the season too...they just badly underestimate their opponents sometimes. It looks like it's going to be an interesting season this year I cannot wait I am so excited football season has started!!
And my Bulldogs won so life is great!!!!

Besides Auburn struggling some, #15 Tennessee got hammered by #12 California 45-31. It was on the road so #15 losing to #12 is expected, but the 45 pts given up would be alarming.
And speaking of one of your fellow high schoolers, I saw that Jon Abbate was cut on the final day by Houston. Everything I read concerning him was that he should have stayed at Wake for his last season. That was too bad for him as I was really hoping he would make it with all that went on with his brother's untimely passing.
He was cut along with a few other big names with Houston though........Keenan McCardell and Jared Zabransky, the QB from Boise State that engineered that upset of Oklahoma last year in the BCS bowl game. It appears that Abbate was playing fullback for the Texans in preseason and at his height and weight (5'11", 245 lbs) that is pretty much the only postition that he could play at the next level. Maybe he could play MLB but he'd have to have ALOT of speed and quickness at that height to do so and I don't think those were his strong suits as a player. Hopefully, he'll catch on with another team as the season wears on and injuries begin to mount.

I gotta admit it did look a little like a basketball score. But I don't think the OU-Miami game will be that high scoring. Obviously Miami will play a little better defense than UNT did. But if we get in trouble we can always suit up TK - who I can almost guarantee will be on the sideline to see this one.

That will be interesting to see if TK shows at that game as he plays in Las Vegas that night. Because he will gain 2 hours flying back to the West Coast he probably can swing it with the aid of a helicopter or 2 and a private jet........both of which I'm certain I have paid for in small part! LOL
If he can't make the trip I think his tour manager will be his ex-tour manager!
BTW, I just checked and OU is favored on the Vegas lines by 10-11 points.
This should be a really good matchup because both teams have to be extra motivated from last year's disappointments. OU feels it needs to "redeem" itself after the loss to Boise State. I know I am in the minority as I don't think that was an embarassing loss at all given the trouble Boise State and the rest of their conference has given other major conference teams including Fresno State almost beating the last Bush/Leinhart USC team in 2005 when that was consdiered an all time great college team. Plus, that was not one of OU's real power teams historically speaking. It was good but not one of their all timers by any means.
And the Miami guys are playing for their positions as the new coach cares nothing about their previous "rep" and only about performance as he has already benched several of last year's starters. This guy is all about the old school "U" family thing and he is not going to put up with anything less from this crew. And I am sure he reminds them every day that they played their bowl game last year in freaking Idaho......OUTDOORS NO LESS!!! So this promises to be a great game with 2 hyper motivated teams going at it.

I didn't even think to look at TK's concert schedule. I'll have to keep an eye out for him. Not only are we motivated to make up for the Fiesta Bowl, but we still owe Miami some revenge for beating us in the national championship game in 87 (I think?). This game is all about the history b/w the two schools and it's all that's being talked about around here - as I'm sure will be the case all week. Only 4 more days!

OU jumped from 8 to 5. WOOT!
Bragger! Michigan State still did not even get a point even in "the best of the rest". I guess the pollsters were not impressed with our "EPIC" (cough, cough) victory over Alabama-Birmingham at home.
Great memory by Lori on the previous Sooner/Cane matchup It was actually the 1988 Orange Bowl but it indeed determined the national champion for the '87 season.
Dang, old grudges die hard for fans of Honky Tonk University! Lori was a mere 3 years old at the time and still seeks revenge on "The U"! Matter of fact, I would not be shocked to find out that she actually watched the game in its entirety, even at that young age knowing how you OU fans roll!
The U is still unranked. But the Foxsports.com preseason poll had Honky Tonk University at #3 and The U at #12. I am hoping that is a more accurate poll as that would make the game much more interesting. They do an very in depth analysyis of all 119 teams so they probably are looking at all the teams in a more detailed manner. In the Miami review they said that The U had a DE and a Saftey that very well could go in the Top 5 of the upcoming NFL Draft. I think we'll find out if they are THAT good this Saturday.
My favorite line in the review about Miami is that the school "has an outlaw image that it carefully cultivates and is very attractive to recruits". HaHa! I'm pretty certain that is 100% true!

You're right, even at 3 I can pretty much guarantee I saw that game. And yes, we like to hold grudges around here - nothing would be better than evening out the series at 4-4 on Sat. I really think this will be a great game, and I hope it is b/c it will be much more exciting.
